Role Description The Public Affairs Director will play a key role in building and managing Black Hat India’s public profile and stakeholder relationships in India and globally. This part-time, remote role includes developing and executing public affairs strategies, managing government and regulatory engagement, and cultivating relationships with key public sector and industry stakeholders. The director will oversee media relations, draft and review press releases, and coordinate messaging across digital and traditional channels to ensure consistent, accurate communication about Black Hat India.
Day-to-day tasks include monitoring policy and regulatory developments, preparing briefing materials, collaborating with internal teams, and advising leadership on public affairs opportunities and risks. The role also involves supporting event-related communications before, during, and after the conference to maximize visibility and positive impact.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Government Relations and Governmental Affairs,
with the ability to engage effectively with public sector stakeholders.
- Proven experience in Public Affairs and Media Relations, including strategy development and execution for high-profile events or organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, review, and manage Press Releases and other public-facing communications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Indian regional languages is an advantage.
- Experience working with technology, cybersecurity, or policy-focused organizations is preferred.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, part-time capacity while coordinating across global teams and time zones.
- Solid analytical, stakeholder management, and crisis communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Communications, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
