Project Manager – Manufacturing & Supply Chain (India)
Position Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager with solid manufacturing and supply‑chain experience to support India‑based operations.
This role manages projects from concept through production, coordinates with suppliers and engineering teams, and ensures all deliverables meet quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with India’s manufacturing ecosystem, supplier networks, and GST‑related compliance.
Preferred location: Mumbai, India.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
- Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of manufacturing and supply‑chain projects from initiation through completion.
- Develop project charters, timelines, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Track progress and provide structured reporting to leadership.
- Ensure cross‑functional alignment across engineering, production, quality, and logistics teams.
Supplier Sourcing & Management
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers across India for manufacturing, tooling, components, and packaging.
- Conduct supplier audits, capability assessments, and cost evaluations.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and service agreements to support project requirements.
- Build strong supplier relationships to ensure reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Manufacturing & Engineering Coordination
- Collaborate with engineering teams to translate technical requirements into manufacturable solutions.
- Support process development, tooling readiness, pilot runs, and production ramp‑up.
- Resolve technical issues related to materials, processes, equipment, and product performance.
- Drive lean manufacturing, cost‑reduction, and efficiency improvement initiatives.
Supply Chain & Logistics Oversight
- Coordinate procurement, inventory planning, production scheduling, and outbound logistics.
- Monitor supplier lead times, production throughput, and delivery performance.
- Work with logistics partners to manage domestic and export shipments, documentation, and compliance.
- Ensure alignment with GST (Goods and Services Tax) in India, the nationwide tax system that replaced most old indirect taxes like VAT, excise duty, and service tax. For manufacturing and supply‑chain operations, GST affects pricing, invoicing, logistics, compliance, customs, and India regulatory requirements.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure product quality, reliability, and adherence to specifications.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for supplier or production issues.
- Maintain compliance with India labor laws, safety standards, and industry certifications.
Cross‑Border Communication & Reporting
- Provide structured updates to U.S. and global leadership on project status, risks, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate with international teams to align expectations, timelines, and deliverables.
- Maintain clear documentation, communication logs, and project records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or related field; not necessary but preferred.
- Experience in manufacturing operations, supplier management, or supply‑chain roles.
- Proven experience managing projects in India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
- Strong understanding of India supplier networks, logistics, GST compliance, and export processes.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross‑functional leadership skills.
- Ability to travel to supplier sites and manufacturing facilities across India.
