About Staple AI
Staple AI handles the first mile of data processing for regulated enterprises. Documents arrive from the outside world in formats, languages and layouts nobody controls. Staple checks the source, extracts and verifies the data, and makes it audit-ready before it enters an ERP, an accounting system or a compliance workflow.
We operate across 58 countries and process over 10 million documents a year for Fortune 100 companies, global banks, insurers and a Big 4 qualified services firm. Our platform reads 300+ languages, reconciles across up to 10 related document types at line-item level, and connects to tax authority networks for e-invoicing worldwide. We are SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certified, an SAP partner listed on the SAP Concur App Center in 30+ countries, a member of OpenPeppol, and accredited by the Singapore government through IMDA Spark.
Role Description
We are hiring a Product Manager to own a product area end to end.
You will own a product area from problem to production. That means deciding what gets built, writing the requirements engineering can build from, working with design to shape the solution, and staying with it through release and adoption.
You will not be handed a backlog to administer. You will talk to enterprise customers, partners and our own business team, work out what the real problem is underneath what they asked for, and turn it into something the engineering team can estimate and build. The definitions, the edge cases and the decisions are yours to own.
Our customers are regulated enterprises. Their auditors and regulators look at what we produce. The standard for clear thinking and precise requirements is high, and the details matter more here than in most product jobs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work directly with enterprise customers, partners,
implementation consultants and the business team to understand what they need, and separate the real requirement from the requested solution
- Write product requirement documents engineering can build from: requirements, edge cases, states, and the open questions that still need answers
- Own the vocabulary of your product area. Define the terms, keep them consistent across the product, the UI and the documentation, and make sure the whole team uses the same words for the same thing
- Work with design to shape the solution before it reaches engineering
- Scope releases. Decide what ships now and what waits, and be able to defend the call to the team and to customers
- Run review sessions with engineering and QA, close open decisions, and unblock estimates
- Track delivery alongside engineering, and raise risks early enough to act on them
- Write the release notes, user guides and internal training material for what you ship
- Stay with the feature after release. Check whether it is used, whether it solved the problem, and what to fix next
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years in product management at a software company, or equivalent experience moving into product from engineering, QA or enterprise implementation
- Ability to write clearly and precisely. Most of this job is writing, and vague requirements cost engineering weeks
- Comfortable holding a real technical conversation with engineers about data models, APIs and tradeoffs
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, or finance operations.
This is what a large share of our customers use Staple for
- Ability to sit in front of an enterprise customer, ask the right questions, and come back with a clear problem statement
- Comfortable deciding with incomplete information, and changing the decision when better information arrives
- Strong attention to detail. Our product is built out of edge cases, exceptions and tolerances, and the details are the product
- Familiar with Agile and Kanban ways of working
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an accounting or finance team, or building software for one
- Experience with document processing, OCR, data extraction, or e-invoicing
- Experience working with enterprise customers, integrations or implementation projects
- Hands-on use of LLMs, through an API or chat, as part of how you work
- Experience with Jira and Confluence
- Some hands-on software background: a general purpose language, Git, Postman, reading an API spec
- Experience building prototypes or mockups to test an idea before it goes to engineering
- Exposure to regulated industries such as banking, insurance or healthcare
