By combining strategic sourcing with hands-on inventory control and production planning, this role will ensure our manufacturing lines have the right child parts and packaging at the right time, without compromising on cost or quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Category Management:

Manage the end-to-end sourcing for metals (Copper, Brass, Stainless Steel), machined inserts, cages, external plating services, and custom/standard packaging materials (e.g., corrugated boxes, inserts, pallets, and labels). Monitor commodity market trends to negotiate competitive pricing and establish reliable long-term supply agreements.

Collaborate directly with NPD head and Engineering during the Current Product Development lifecycle. Procure prototypes, manage target costing, and oversee the First Article Inspection (FAI) and PPAP processes for new machined components, surface treatments, and bespoke product packaging.

3. Production Planning & Execution:

Utilize Master Production Schedules (MPS) to drive Material Requirements Planning (MRP). Issue timely Purchase Orders (POs) and aggressively expedite materials to guarantee smooth, uninterrupted production and packing operations.

4. Inventory Control & Optimization:

Set and monitor min/max levels and safety stocks to balance healthy inventory turnover while actively mitigating excess and obsolete (E&O;) material risks, particularly for space-intensive packaging inventory.

5. Child Part & Material Tracking:

Take full ownership of all inbound logistics. Track inbound shipments daily and publish clear, accurate visibility reports on component/packaging arrivals,

potential shortages, and immediate mitigation strategies to cross-functional teams.

6. Supplier Performance Management:

and quality metrics.

7. Cost Reduction Initiatives:

Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) and Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VAVE) projects with suppliers to reduce total cost of ownership across raw materials, machining time, plating processes, and packaging design optimization (e.g., freight density, material reduction).

Market Awareness: Solid grasp of global metal pricing mechanisms, raw material availability, and paper/plastics commodity trends.

Soft Skills & Work Environment

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to partner seamlessly with R&D;, Engineering, and Production teams to balance the agile demands of New Product

Development (NPD) with rigid manufacturing schedules.

Strategic Negotiation: Persuasion and relationship-building skills to secure favorable pricing and terms, especially when navigating volatile commodity markets for copper and brass.

Crisis Management & Adaptability: Capacity to quickly pivot, troubleshoot, and devise alternative supply plans when raw materials or packaging shipments are delayed, ensuring zero production downtime.

Clear Communication: Adept at translating complex supply chain data into concise, actionable visibility reports regarding child part arrivals for management and the shop floor.
