Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager with 8+ years of overall experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role, to lead and manage procurement operations supporting our UAE-based maritime and ship chandelling business.
The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in ship chandelling, marine procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and commercial negotiations. The role involves managing the end-to-end procurement of technical stores, deck and engine equipment, safety items, and other marine supplies, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery.
The Procurement Manager will work closely with the UAE front office, vessels, suppliers, and international vendors to ensure smooth and efficient procurement operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the complete procurement function for ship chandelling and marine supplies.
- Source and evaluate reliable local and international suppliers for deck stores, engine stores, technical items, safety equipment, and general vessel requirements.
- Manage vendor relationships, supplier performance, pricing, payment terms, and service levels.
- Request and analyze quotations, conduct commercial comparisons, and negotiate competitive prices and terms.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining required quality and delivery standards.
- Review and approve purchase requirements and ensure accurate and timely preparation of Purchase Orders (POs).
- Coordinate closely with the UAE front office, vessels, operations teams, and suppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
- Monitor procurement schedules, order status, delivery timelines, and urgent vessel requirements.
- Handle supplier discrepancies, shortages, quality issues, delayed deliveries, and replacement requirements effectively.
- Maintain and develop an updated supplier database, pricing records, purchase history, and vendor performance records.
- Monitor market prices and supplier trends to support competitive purchasing decisions.
- Develop long-term relationships with strategic suppliers and negotiate improved commercial terms.
- Supervise, guide, and monitor procurement team members to ensure productivity and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain procurement procedures, controls, and documentation standards.
- Coordinate with finance and accounts teams regarding invoices, supplier statements, payment terms, and purchase-related documentation.
- Prepare procurement reports, cost analysis, supplier performance reports, and management updates.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, operational requirements, and agreed budgets.
- Handle multiple urgent requirements simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and service quality.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline is acceptable.
- B.Tech / Diploma in Engineering or related technical qualifications will be an added advantage.
- 8+ years of total professional experience in procurement, purchasing, marine supplies, or marine ship chandelling.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Procurement Manager / Procurement Head / Senior Procurement role.
- Experience handling deck stores, engine stores, technical stores, safety equipment, and general marine supplies.
- Experience in sourcing and negotiating with local and international vendors.
- Experience managing procurement teams and supplier relationships.
- Immediate joiners are preferred.
