Job Title: Printing Operator

Department: Production

Job Summary The Printing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining rotogravure printing machines to produce high-quality adaptable packaging materials as per customer specifications. The operator must ensure proper color matching, print registration, productivity, minimum wastage, and adherence to quality and safety standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Setup & Preparation

- Read and understand job cards, production orders, artwork approvals, and customer specifications.
- Mount and align cylinders, doctor blades, ink trays, and impression rollers.
- Load film rolls and ensure proper web alignment and tension.
- Set machine parameters such as printing speed, web tension, drying temperature, and registration settings.

Printing Operations
- Operate printing machines safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate color registration and print quality throughout production.
- Monitor ink viscosity, solvent ratios, and color consistency.
- Inspect printed material regularly for defects such as color variation, misregistration, streaks, pinholes, and ghosting.
- Make necessary machine adjustments to maintain quality standards.

Quality Control
- Ensure printed rolls meet approved artwork and customer requirements.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department for print approval and inspections.
- Minimize material wastage and production losses.
- Maintain production records, wastage reports, and shift reports.

Maintenance & Housekeeping




- Perform routine machine cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Clean cylinders, doctor blades, ink trays, and machine components after each job.
- Report machine issues and assist maintenance personnel in repairs.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.

Coordination
- Coordinate with Production Planning, Quality, Lamination, Slitting, and Dispatch teams.
- Guide helpers during machine setup, operation, and job changeovers.
- Ensure smooth shift handover with complete production details.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of Printing Process.
- Color matching and print registration control.
- Ink preparation and viscosity control.
- Understanding of flexible packaging materials (BOPP, PET, PE, CPP, Foil, etc.).
- Ability to troubleshoot printing defects and machine issues.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.

Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Printing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in Printing operations within the flexible packaging industry.
- Experience in handling multi-color printing machines preferred.
