JSM is seeking a contract Data Quality Analyst to help us raise the quality of the data underpinning our product. Data quality directly affects the reliability, security, usability, and trustworthiness of what we deliver to our users, and data accumulated over the past 9 years has eroded some data quality. This role will focus on projects and customer accounts that have been non-functional for five years or more, yet they — along with their dependent data — that persist in our active systems.

The introduction of a new ERP system provides more opportunities to clean data related to customers and their access. We need an expert who can extract data from existing databases, use various fields and queries to identify functional areas and dormant data, determine what can be archived or removed, and more broadly make recommendations to improve overall data quality and maintenance practices. Working alongside the Product Owner and functional stakeholders, this role will assess the current state of our data, diagnose the root causes of quality issues, and recommend the right set of improvements — from identifying and retiring obsolete data to normalization, standardization, de-duplication, and correction.

This is a business-outcome driven role: the objective is to have measurably better, leaner, more trustworthy product data. Familiarity with Maximo, Windchill, or the marine/maritime domain is a strong advantage.

What You Will Do

- Identify dormant and obsolete data. Find functional areas that have been inactive for extended periods — five years or more — and map the dependent data tied to them, so we know exactly what can be safely archived or removed.
- Understand our product data.

Study the data that powers our product — across primary and related data sets — and build a clear picture of its structure, relationships, and dependencies.
- Tell us where we stand. Assess data quality against the dimensions that matter to us — accuracy, completeness, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and integrity — and give us an honest, evidence-based view of the current state.

- Find the root cause, not just the symptom. Explain why quality issues recur, so we can fix the source, not just the surface.
- Define what "good" looks like. Help the product team establish data quality standards and success measures we can hold ourselves to.
- Recommend the right improvements.

For each issue, prescribe the appropriate remedy — archival or removal of obsolete data, normalization / restructuring, de-duplication, standardization, correction, or enrichment — with clear rationale, business impact, and priority.

- Protect what depends on the data. Map how our data relates across tables and systems so that any archival, removal, or improvement preserves integrity and doesn't disrupt downstream product behavior or reporting.
- Show the improvement. Define quality metrics and demonstrate measurable before-and-after improvement.
- Help us sustain quality. Recommend the rules, validations, and standards that keep quality from degrading again after the engagement ends.

- Leave us self-sufficient.

Document findings, decisions, and improvement logic so the product team can carry the work forward.

What You Will Need Education &

Experience

- Graduate with Min of 9 years of experience as Data Quality Analyst
- Experience in Marine Industry will be an added advantage

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Proven track record improving data quality for a product, platform, or enterprise system.
- Experience identifying obsolete, dormant, or redundant data and defining safe archival / removal approaches.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with the discipline to spot subtle data inconsistencies, trace dependencies carefully, and validate findings before recommending changes.
- Strong grasp of data quality dimensions and the ability to translate them into terms the product team and business stakeholders understand.
- Solid understanding of how data is structured and related — normalization principles and dependency mapping across primary and related data sets.
- Sound judgement on which remedy fits which problem, balancing effort against business value.
- Ability to profile and analyze data independently and turn findings into clear, prioritized recommendations.
- A consultative, product-minded approach — comfortable advising stakeholders, framing trade-offs, and driving decisions.
- Ability to work independently and ramp up quickly with minimal supervision.

Positive to Have

- Working knowledge of IBM Maximo (asset / EAM data) or PTC Windchill (PLM data).
- Familiarity with the marine, maritime, or classification-society domain.
- Experience with master data management (MDM), data governance, or data quality frameworks.
