QUALIFICATION:
- 10th / 12th Pass.
- ITI – Plumber / relevant trade certification will be an added advantage.
- Experience of Minimum 3 years in the field and basic knowledge of plumbing tools, pumps, valves, sanitary fixtures and water distribution systems.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience; hospital / healthcare facility experience will be preferred.
- Experience in maintenance of plumbing systems in a large multi-storey / institutional facility is desirable.
- Candidates having PMC / relevant local plumbing license or certification will have an added advantage.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend all plumbing-related complaints across the hospital, associated clinical areas, offices, hostels and other assigned premises, and provide timely feedback to the Assistant Maintenance Officer – Civil / reporting officer.
- Attend urgent plumbing breakdowns in critical and patient-care areas such as OTs, ICUs, wards, emergency areas, laboratories, dialysis, CSSD and other clinical departments on priority basis.
- Carry out preventive maintenance, inspection and routine servicing of plumbing installations to minimize breakdowns and service interruptions.
- Check well-water, fresh-water and other associated water-supply pumps for satisfactory operation and immediately report abnormalities.
- Monitor water storage tanks, including well-water and fresh-water tanks, and ensure timely refilling as per hospital operational requirements.
- Inspect pipelines, valves, joints, taps, flush systems, sanitary fittings, traps and drainage points for leakage, blockage or malfunction.
- Install, replace and repair wash basins, commodes, urinals, taps, flush valves, health faucets, sinks and other sanitary/plumbing fixtures.
- Repair existing plumbing lines and install new pipelines, fittings and valves wherever required as per approved work instructions.
- Attend and transparent washbasin, sink,
floor-trap and drainage blockages, ensuring proper flow and hygienic conditions.
- Attend complaints and carry out maintenance of water purifiers / Aqua Guards installed in hospital and hostel areas, where assigned.
- Assist in maintenance of hot-water supply systems, circulation lines, geyser connections and associated plumbing components, where applicable.
- Monitor and attend leakages in concealed and exposed plumbing lines and take immediate action to prevent water wastage, damage to infrastructure and disruption to patient-care services.
- Support plumbing works related to renovation, new installations, shifting of departments and project works, including dismantling, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, HVAC, Biomedical, Infection Control, housekeeping and clinical teams whenever plumbing work affects patientcare or support services.
- Maintain basic records of breakdown complaints, preventive-maintenance activities, repairs, replaced materials and pending plumbing issues as instructed.
- Ensure proper isolation / shutdown of water lines before repair work and restore the supply safely after testing, with minimum disruption to hospital operations.
- Follow hospital safety, infection-control, work-permit and housekeeping requirements while working inside clinical and patient-care areas.
- Use tools, equipment and materials responsibly and report shortages, damaged tools or recurring failures to the reporting officer.
- Immediately escalate major leakages, repeated failures, pump/tank abnormalities, drainage failures or any issue that may affect patient safety or hospital operations.
- Remain available for emergency plumbing support / breakdown calls as per the duty roster and hospital requirements.
- Any other work / responsibility assigned by the HOD / Management in the course of business/work, whether within the same unit/department or any other unit/department, from time to time.
