Role Objective:

To lead the overall Quality function of the plant, ensuring consistent product and process quality, customer satisfaction and compliance with applicable quality standards. The role will drive a zero-defect culture, strengthen Quality Management Systems, improve process capability and reduce customer complaints, rejection, rework and cost of poor quality.

The incumbent will partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain and Business teams to build robust processes, prevent quality issues and continuously improve plant performance.

Role & responsibilities

Plant Quality Leadership

- Lead the complete Quality function for the plant with responsibility for Incoming, Process, Final, Customer and Supplier Quality.
- Establish quality objectives, KPIs and improvement priorities aligned with business goals.
- Build a strong quality culture across the plant through ownership and accountability.
- 2. Customer Quality
- Own customer quality performance and ensure timely resolution of customer complaints.
- Drive reduction in customer PPM, complaints, warranty issues and quality escalations.
- Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, RCA and CAPA methodologies.
- Develop strong relationships with key customer Quality and Engineering teams.

3. Process & Manufacturing Quality

- Strengthen process controls across manufacturing operations.
- Drive First Pass Yield, process capability, rejection, rework and scrap reduction.
- Ensure effective implementation of SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans and other preventive quality tools.
- Identify critical process parameters and establish robust control mechanisms.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to eliminate recurring quality issues.

4. Incoming & Supplier Quality

- Ensure effective incoming quality control and supplier quality management.
- Drive supplier development and corrective actions for recurring quality issues.
- Work closely with Procurement and Engineering to improve supplier capability.
- Support supplier audits, process validation and new supplier development.

5. Quality Management Systems

- Ensure effective implementation and continuous improvement of the plant's QMS.
- Maintain compliance with applicable ISO/IATF and customer-specific requirements, as relevant to the business.
- Lead internal, external,



customer and certification audits.
- Ensure closure of audit findings within defined timelines.

6. New Product / Process Quality

- Provide Quality leadership for new product introduction, process development and industrialization.
- Ensure effective APQP, PPAP, FMEA and Control Plan implementation.
- Participate in design/process reviews and ensure quality risks are identified and mitigated before mass production.
- Establish validation and approval mechanisms for new processes and products.

7. Continuous Improvement & Cost of Quality

- Drive initiatives to reduce COPQ, scrap, rejection, rework and warranty costs.
- Implement structured quality improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma and problem-solving methodologies.
- Improve process capability, productivity and overall manufacturing effectiveness through quality interventions.

8. Quality Systems, Measurement & Inspection

- Ensure reliability and accuracy of inspection, testing and measurement systems.
- Strengthen calibration and measurement-system effectiveness.
- Develop appropriate inspection standards and control methodologies for critical characteristics.
- Ensure traceability and effective quality documentation.

9. Quality Team Development

- Build, develop and mentor a strong plant Quality team.
- Define roles, competencies and performance objectives for the Quality organization.
- Develop technical and problem-solving capabilities within the team.
- Establish a culture of proactive prevention rather than reactive inspection.

10. Cross-Functional Leadership

- Work closely with Plant Head, Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Procurement and Business teams.
- Ensure quality considerations are integrated into process, productivity, capacity and investment decisions.
- Drive cross-functional corrective and preventive actions for major quality issues.

Preferred candidate profile

- 18 to 25 years of experience in Quality,



preferably with significant experience in precision engineering, industrial manufacturing, automotive components or allied engineering industries.
- Should have 10+ years of leadership experience managing Plant Quality / Quality functions in a medium-to-large manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in managing the complete Quality function covering Incoming Quality, Process Quality, Final Quality, Customer Quality and Supplier Quality.
- Strong exposure to high-precision, high-volume and process-driven manufacturing environments.
- Experience managing Quality for a large manufacturing plant / multi-line plant, with responsibility for quality performance and customer deliverables.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process capability, SPC, MSA, FMEA, Control Plans and statistical quality tools.
- Hands-on experience in APQP, PPAP, 8D, RCA, CAPA and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Strong experience in handling customer quality issues, escalations, audits and customer-specific requirements.
- Proven track record in reducing customer PPM, rejection, rework, scrap and Cost of Poor Quality.
- Robust exposure to Supplier Quality Management and supplier development, including supplier audits and corrective actions.
- Experience in leading QMS implementation and improvement, including internal, external, certification and customer audits.
- Should have managed quality requirements for new product introduction, process development and industrialization, including APQP/PPAP.
- Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949, wherever applicable; exposure to other relevant industry-specific standards would be an advantage.
- Experience in driving Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement initiatives with measurable quality and cost benefits.
- Strong capability in using quality data, analytics and KPIs to identify trends, prioritize issues and drive corrective actions.
- Should have demonstrated experience in building and developing Quality teams, including succession planning and technical capability development.
- Strong cross-functional experience working with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Procurement and Business teams.
- Should be comfortable interacting with Plant Head, Business Head, senior management and customer leadership teams.
