Job Description Factory / Plant Manager:

Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Factory / Plant Manager to lead the overall operations of our manufacturing plant. The role will be responsible for ensuring efficient production, quality, safety, regulatory compliance, cost control, and effective people management.

The incumbent will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Supply Chain, HR and other functions to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations while maintaining statutory and company standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Plant & Production Management

- Lead end-to-end plant operations and ensure achievement of production targets.
- Plan and monitor production schedules, capacity utilization and operational efficiency.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, materials and other resources.
- Monitor production losses, downtime, wastage and overall plant productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.

2. Quality, Food Safety & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to applicable quality, food safety, statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, quality systems, safety standards and audit requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality teams to maintain product quality and hygiene standards.
- Ensure timely closure of observations arising from internal, external and regulatory audits.
- Maintain necessary plant documentation, records and compliance requirements.

3. Maintenance & Engineering Coordination

- Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance teams to ensure maximum machine availability.
- Monitor preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.




- Identify recurring equipment issues and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper planning of maintenance activities without impacting production.

4. People Management

- Lead, develop and manage plant employees across functions and shifts.
- Ensure adequate manpower availability and effective manpower deployment.
- Set explicit performance expectations and monitor team performance.
- Develop a culture of discipline, accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
- Identify training and capability-building requirements for plant employees.
- Handle employee-related operational issues in coordination with HR.

5. Stakeholder Management

- Act as the key point of coordination between the plant and corporate functions.
- Work closely with Quality, HR, Procurement, Supply Chain, Sales and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate with external agencies, vendors, contractors and relevant authorities as required.
- Ensure effective communication and timely resolution of operational issues.

6. Safety & Hygiene

- Ensure strict adherence to plant safety, hygiene and housekeeping standards.
- Drive awareness and compliance with safety procedures across the plant.
- Identify potential safety risks and ensure appropriate corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.

7. Cost & Resource Management

- Monitor plant operating costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization.
- Ensure efficient utilization of raw materials, packaging materials, utilities and manpower.
- Monitor wastage, energy consumption and other key operating expenses.
- Support budgeting and operational planning for the plant.
