Role Description The Owner role at the American Chemical Society in Mumbai is a full time, on-site position responsible for overseeing local operations, strategic initiatives, and stakeholder relationships. This role involves managing day-to-day business activities such as planning and monitoring projects, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring alignment with ACS’s mission and organizational standards. The Owner will be expected to drive growth and engagement in the local scientific community, support membership and program development, and maintain high-quality service delivery.

Routine responsibilities include budget oversight, compliance with organizational policies,



performance tracking, and reporting to senior leadership. The role also requires fostering an inclusive work environment, mentoring team members, and representing ACS in regional events and professional forums.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in organizational leadership, business ownership, or senior management within a nonprofit, scientific, or related professional setting.
- Strong skills in strategic planning, operations management, and project coordination to oversee diverse initiatives and teams.
- Proficiency in stakeholder management, relationship building, and community engagement, especially within scientific or professional networks.
- Solid financial and administrative capabilities, including budgeting, resource allocation, and compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures and functions.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, manage a local team, and maintain a respectful, inclusive, and non-discriminatory work environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, science, or a related field; an advanced degree or scientific background is an advantage.
- Prior experience working with or within membership organizations, scientific societies, or educational institutions is highly beneficial.
