– NPD & PRODUCTION ENGINEER
Perfura Technologies is a Post Harvest Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing company located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, with a branch office in Hyderabad-Telangana & Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
The Role
We require a practical, hands-on and highly motivated Engineer to manage New Product Development, production engineering and day-to-day production planning within a privately owned manufacturing business.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will convert customer orders and product requirements into drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and executable production plans and coordinate the Production team through to completion.
This role is suited to someone who enjoys engineering problem solving, product development and working closely with welders, fitters and technicians on the factory floor. You will be responsible for ensuring production is technically correct, properly planned and completed in line with committed order dates.
Responsibilities
· Develop and maintain engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing information for Perfura products
· Undertake New Product Development and continuous product improvement projects
· Convert confirmed customer orders into clear engineering and production requirements
· Develop daily and weekly production plans in line with committed order and dispatch dates
· Plan and coordinate production manpower, work sequence and machine priorities
· Allocate work to Production Welders, Production Fitter, Production Helper and NPD Technician as appropriate
· Monitor work-in-progress and production completion against agreed schedules
· Coordinate material and bought-out component requirements with Stores and the Operations Manager
· Identify material shortages early and support timely resolution
· Ensure Production uses the correct drawings, BOM revisions, materials and specifications
· Resolve technical, fabrication, fitting and manufacturing problems arising during production
· Coordinate prototype manufacture, product trials, testing and engineering modifications
· Improve product manufacturability, standardisation,
productivity and ease of assembly
· Reduce production rework, material wastage and avoidable manufacturing delays
· Maintain engineering drawing, BOM and revision-control records
· Support development of production jigs, fixtures, tools and manufacturing methods where required
· Monitor workmanship and immediately escalate significant quality issues to the Operations Manager
· Work closely with Service to incorporate recurring field-service and customer feedback into product improvements
· Support Quality investigations and corrective actions relating to engineering or production issues
· Maintain safe and organised production activities and ensure team members follow applicable work instructions
· Develop the capability of Production personnel through practical guidance and on-the-job technical support
· Ensure completed Production work is checked for completeness before handover
· Formally hand over completed unpainted machines to the Service team for painting, pre-despatch assembly and final preparation
· Maintain accurate production status information and report risks, delays and corrective actions to the Operations Manager
· Ensure agreed NPD and Production KPIs are met or exceeded
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
· BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechatronics or a related Engineering discipline
· Relevant experience in machinery design, product development or manufacturing is desirable
· Experience in agricultural machinery, food-processing equipment, capital equipment or a similar manufacturing environment is advantageous
· Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, mechanical fitting and machine assembly processes
· Proficiency in SolidWorks and Sheet Metal Design,
with the ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings, create accurate 3D models, and perform proper sheet-metal nesting to optimize material utilization and minimize sheet wastage.
· Good understanding of BOM preparation, engineering revision control and production planning
· Robust technical, analytical and practical problem-solving skills
· Hands-on manufacturing orientation and willingness to work closely with the factory team
· Ability to translate product and customer requirements into practical manufacturing solutions
· Ability to plan and manage multiple production jobs simultaneously
· Strong organisational skills and ability to consistently meet production deadlines
· Ability to supervise, guide and coordinate welders, fitters, technicians and production support personnel
· Strong attention to dimensional accuracy, workmanship and product quality
· Process oriented and committed to continuous improvement
· Good verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to maintain clear engineering, production and technical records
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, production / ERP systems and SAP is desirable
· Commitment to workplace safety, housekeeping and responsible use of company equipment
· Minimum 5years experience in similar role is necessary.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Operations Manager
Directly coordinates: NPD Technician, Production Welders, Production Fitter and Production Helper
Works closely with: Stores, Procurement, Quality, Service and Logistics
Primary accountability: Engineering accuracy, production planning and completion of conforming unpainted machines for handover to Service in line with committed order dates.
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹45,000.00 per month
