nCurrent workload distribution is approximately:

- Oracle: ~25%

- The client is also moving heavily toward Oracle Exadata and would strongly prefer candidates with Exadata and RAC experience.

nResponsibilities:
nApplication DBA Support
nThis role is primarily an Application DBA function focused on project delivery and operational support rather than infrastructure management.
nKey responsibilities include:
n
n
- Database deployments
n
- Environment support
n
- User and security administration
n
- Performance monitoring and troubleshooting
n
- Backup and recovery support
n
- Database access and permissions management
n
- Ticket management and issue resolution
n
- Participation in project delivery activities
n
nDBAs will act as a first point of contact for database-related issues, including:
nPerformance Monitoring
n
n
- Locking and blocking issues
n
- Long-running jobs
n
- Data processing failures
n
- Missing or ineffective indexes
n
- SQL performance troubleshooting
n
nOperational Support
n
n
- Reviewing database logs
n
- Monitoring CPU and storage utilization
n
- Troubleshooting database job failures
n
- Diagnosing environment issues and escalating when necessary
n
nThe role functions largely as an L2/L3 support resource responsible for initial investigation and resolution.
n
nBuild and Deployment Support
nThe team supports data warehouse development projects through:
nBuild Activities

- Reviewing code changes
n
- Merging code into GitHub repositories
n
- Supporting development teams during implementation
n
nDeployment Activities
n
n
- Executing database deployment scripts
n
- Following deployment instructions packaged through ServiceNow/Jira workflows
n
- Supporting deployments into QA and UAT environments
n
- Troubleshooting deployment issues
n
nDeployment work typically represents 1–2 hours per day, while the majority of effort is spent supporting project teams.
n
nDBAs become actively involved as solutions progress through:

- Development
n
- QA
n
- UAT
n
- Release/Deployment
n
nTypical responsibilities include:
n
n
- Supporting QA environments
n
- Assisting with database changes between environments
n
- Troubleshooting integration and testing issues
n
- Supporting project teams throughout the delivery lifecycle

nDevelopers primarily manage Development environments, while DBAs provide support as projects move into QA and UAT.
n
nAdministrative Responsibilities
nExpected activities include:

- User provisioning and access management
n
- Security administration
n
- Account unlocks and permission requests
n
- Monitoring ticket queues
n
- Backup and recovery support
n
nDatabase creation and infrastructure provisioning are generally handled by separate teams.
