What you will work on

- Design machines and subsystems end to end: infeed and elevating conveyors, singulation and feeding, roller and belt graders, ejection mechanisms for AI sorters, weighing and bagging units, frames, guards, and hoppers
- Do the engineering behind them: load, torque, and power calculations, motor and drive sizing, belt and chain selection, bearing life, shaft and deflection checks, fastener and weld sizing
- Build clean 3D models, assemblies, GA drawings, manufacturing drawings, and BOMs
- Turn field feedback into design changes: work with our service and deployment teams on what wears, what jams, and what is hard to maintain, then fix it in the next revision
- Design for manufacturing and cost: work with our in-house fabrication team and vendors on sheet metal, machining, and welding so what you design gets built well and at the right price
- Prototype and test on the shop floor: be there for first builds and crop trials, measure what happens, and iterate
- Work with our vision, electronics, and software engineers on camera and lighting mounts, sensor placement, and ejector timing so the mechanics and the AI work as one system
- Keep design documentation, revisions, and a standard parts library in order as the product line grows

What we are looking for

- BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering
- 2 to 3 years of hands-on design experience in special purpose machines, automation equipment, material handling, packaging machinery, agricultural machinery, or similar
- Strong fundamentals in statics, dynamics, strength of materials, machine design, and mechanisms.

You can size a drive or check a shaft by hand and explain why it is right. This matters more to us than any tool
- Fluent in 3D CAD and 2D drawings with GD&T;
- A working sense of fabrication: sheet metal, welding, machining, and what makes a part cheap or expensive to make
- Comfortable in the workshop and at customer sites, and happy to travel to packhouses for trials and installations
- Practical, curious, and wanting ownership. We hire doers over high scorers

Good to have

- Prior design of material handling systems: conveyors, elevators, hoppers, vibratory or roller feeders
- Exposure to motion systems: servo or stepper drives, pneumatics, linear guides
- Basic FEA for structures and brackets
- Experience with washdown or food-contact design in stainless steel
- Any exposure to agri or food processing machinery
- A real interest in robotics, AI, and automation

Why this role is exciting

- You will own machine design, not one bracket. In most entry-level design roles you get a corner of a drawing. Here you get the machine
- The loop is short. You design it, we build it in the same facility, you test it on real onions and potatoes, and it ships to a customer. That happens in weeks, not quarters
- You will learn across functions. AI vision, electronics,

manufacturing, field deployment, and customer feedback all sit within a few metres of your desk
- We are expanding from grading and sorting to the full packhouse. That means current machines to design, not old ones to maintain
- You will work directly with the co-founder who leads engineering and manufacturing, with a decade-plus of automation and embedded systems experience
- Your machines will change what a farmer group or an exporter can earn from a crop. That is a real thing you can point to

Who will enjoy this role

- Someone who believes the calculation matters more than the render
- Someone who would rather be at the machine when it jams than read about it in a report
- Someone who wants to build depth, speed, and judgment early in their career instead of waiting for it

About us Occipital Technologies builds under the brand Agrograde. We are a physical AI and robotics company building the future of food and agri supply chains.

Our goal is the autonomous packhouse: technology that automates every critical step of handling fresh produce, from receiving and quality assaying to cleaning, washing, grading, sorting, weighing, packing, and dispatch. Our AI-powered optical sorters, size graders, and weighing and packing systems already run in packhouses across the country and deliver a level of accuracy that was out of reach for most of the supply chain until now. Everything is designed and manufactured at our facility in Chakan, Pune, for Indian crops and Indian operating conditions.
