THE ROLE
We are looking for someone who can hold the whole picture: seven product lines, two geographies, several brand ecosystems and a small team, and then make hard decisions about where to concentrate rather than spreading everything thin.
The first job is diagnosis. Before anything gets planned, we want someone who will audit what exists, sit with sales, talk to buyers, look honestly at where our marketing is absent versus where our buyers actually are, and tell us plainly what is broken. The plan comes after that, not before.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a company where marketing is expected to contribute to pipeline, not just to awareness. You will build the strategy and you will still write, edit and review real work.
What you will do :
Strategy and prioritisation
- Own the annual and quarterly marketing plan across product lines and both geographies.
- Build the positioning and messaging architecture - what each product claims, for whom, and how it is different from what else the buyer is looking at.
- Decide where we concentrate and, just as importantly, what we stop doing. A plan that covers everything covers nothing.
- Set the budget and defend how it is allocated.
Market research and gap analysis
- Run structured category and competitor research - how rivals position, price, message and where they are weak.
- Define and keep sharpening the ideal customer profile and the buying committee for each product line.
- Conduct gap analysis: where buyers are looking versus where we appear, which questions we do not answer, which formats and channels we are absent from,
and which segments are under-served.
- Feed win and loss reasons back into positioning, working directly with sales rather than from a dashboard.
- Track category shifts - including how AI-driven search and answer engines are changing where buyers discover vendors - and adjust before it costs us visibility.
Demand generation and pipeline
- Design and run campaigns that produce qualified pipeline, not just traffic.
- Agree funnel definitions and handoff rules with sales, and hold both sides to them.
- Run account-based work for named enterprise targets, including our Northwest Ohio focus accounts.
- Own webinars, events and partner activity where they earn their cost.
Brand, content and channels
- Set the editorial direction and hold the quality bar on everything published.
- Maintain brand consistency across iTCart and associated brand ecosystems.
- Build the leadership team into visible voices in the category - founder and executive thought leadership is often the highest-return channel in B2B.
- Oversee SEO, AEO and GEO, website, LinkedIn, email and paid where it is justified.
- Enforce claim discipline, particularly for healthcare and BFSI audiences where a published claim is read as a commitment.
Team and operations
- Hire, coach and retain a small, high-output team across content, social, search and design.
- Set KPIs and KRAs, run review cadences, and give feedback that people can act on.
- Manage agencies, freelancers and vendors, including negotiation and performance review.
- Build the reporting rhythm - monthly to leadership, with honest accounting of what failed and what changed as a result.
What success looks like
Horizon : What we expect
First 30 days : A completed audit of current marketing across channels, products and both markets. Time spent with sales and with at least a few customers. A baseline set of numbers. A written diagnosis of the three biggest gaps, presented to leadership.
First 90 days : A prioritised plan with an explicit list of what we are not doing this quarter. Team KPIs and review cadence in place. Positioning and messaging tightened for at least the two highest-priority product lines. Monthly reporting running.
Six months : Measurable marketing contribution to pipeline, with an agreed definition of what that means. A team producing quality work without daily direction. Sales pulling marketing assets rather than asking for them. A explicit point of view in the market that did not exist before.
What we are looking for :
Essential
- 3 - 6 years in B2B marketing, with at least two years leading people.
- You have owned a full marketing plan, not just a channel. You can walk us through one you built, what you cut from it, and what happened.
- Real research capability. Competitive analysis, category research and gap analysis that produced a decision, not a slide deck.
- Fluency with enterprise sales cycles and genuine working alignment with a sales team - including the difficult conversations about lead quality.
- Data literacy. GA4, CRM, LinkedIn and campaign data at a level where you can interrogate the numbers yourself rather than waiting for a report.
- Experience marketing to both Indian and international buyers, and an understanding that the difference is proof and procurement, not spelling.
- Strong writing, and the editorial judgement to improve someone else’s draft without rewriting it into your own voice.
- Current on AI-era discovery - AEO and GEO, how answer engines cite sources - and on AI tooling in a marketing workflow.
Nice to have
- Enterprise AI, SaaS or IT services background.
- Marketing into regulated sectors - healthcare, banking and financial services, or the public sector.
- Account-based marketing experience against named enterprise targets.
- US mid-market experience, particularly outside the coastal metros.
- Agency-side experience, or having built a marketing function from a standing start.
- Experience managing multiple brands or sub-brands simultaneously.
Who this role is not for
We would rather be honest now than lose you a few months in.
- If you want to run brand and communications without being accountable for pipeline, this is not that role.
- If you need a large budget and a big team to be effective, you will struggle here. The resourcing is real but modest, and prioritisation is the core skill.
- If you no longer want to write or edit, this will not suit you. It is a hands-on lead role.
- If you prefer to keep a plan intact rather than change it when the data disagrees, we will find that difficult.
