Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Production Engineer Electronics / PCBA with 5–10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing and EMS environments.

The candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving production and EMS-related technical issues, troubleshooting production and customer failures, performing process Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and recommending and driving appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).

The candidate should have a good overall understanding of the PCBA manufacturing process and EMS operations, along with strong knowledge of applicable IPC standards and ESD requirements.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently take ownership of issues through investigation, root-cause identification, corrective action, and closure.

Key Responsibilities

EMS & Production Issue Management

- Take ownership of EMS and PCBA manufacturing-related issues and drive them to resolution.
- Have a good overall understanding of the end-to-end PCBA manufacturing process followed by EMS partners.
- Coordinate with EMS teams to identify, analyze, and resolve manufacturing and process-related issues.
- Monitor production issues and identify recurring problems requiring permanent corrective action.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are followed as per approved specifications, drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Act as the key technical interface with the EMS partner for production-related issues.

Production Failure Troubleshooting

- Independently troubleshoot production-level failures and PCBA-related issues.
- Analyze failures and determine whether the root cause is related to process,

component, PCB, workmanship, assembly, equipment, handling, or other manufacturing factors.
- Review production/test data and manufacturing records to support failure investigation.
- Work with relevant internal and EMS teams to identify and eliminate recurring production failures.
- Ensure effective containment and permanent corrective actions are implemented.

Customer Failure Analysis

- Take ownership of investigating customer-reported failures and returned products/PCBAs from a manufacturing perspective.
- Analyze customer failures and work towards identifying the actual failure mechanism and root cause.
- Coordinate with EMS, Quality, Engineering, and other relevant teams during failure investigations.
- Review manufacturing history, inspection/test results, process records, component information, and other relevant data.
- Identify manufacturing/process-related causes and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure lessons learned from customer failures are incorporated into the manufacturing process to prevent recurrence.

Process RCA & CAPA

- Independently perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for production, process, and customer-related failures.
- Identify the actual root cause rather than limiting the investigation to the immediate symptom.

- Recommend appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) based on the identified root cause.
- Drive implementation of CAPA with the relevant teams and EMS partners.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and ensure recurrence is prevented.
- Maintain appropriate documentation of RCA, corrective actions, and closure.

IPC Standards

- Have valuable working knowledge of applicable IPC standards and PCBA workmanship requirements.
- Be able to evaluate manufacturing and workmanship issues against applicable IPC acceptance criteria.
- Support resolution of IPC-related manufacturing and quality issues with EMS partners.
- IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 knowledge is preferred/required, depending on the product and manufacturing requirements.
- IPC certification such as CIS/CIT will be an added advantage.

ESD Standards & Compliance

- Have good knowledge of ESD standards and ESD control practices applicable to electronics manufacturing.
- Understand the requirements for maintaining an ESD Protected Area (EPA).
- Ensure appropriate ESD controls are followed during PCBA manufacturing, handling, testing, storage, and movement.
- Support investigation of potential ESD-related production or customer failures.
- Ensure EMS partners maintain required ESD controls and compliance.

Process Improvement

- Identify recurring manufacturing issues and opportunities for process improvement.
- Recommend improvements to reduce production failures, rejection, rework, and customer failures.
- Work with EMS partners and internal teams to improve manufacturing process robustness.
- Support implementation and verification of process improvements.
