A Legal Officer in a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) manages legal risks, drafts and vets loan documents, handles recovery litigation, and ensures compliance with financial laws and RBI regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Litigation &
- Recovery Management:

Handle court cases, arbitration, and recovery proceedings under the SARFAESI Act, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act (cheque bounce cases). Coordinate closely with external advocates and legal vendors.

- Loan Documentation &

- Vetting:

Draft, review, and maintain master loan agreements, sanction letters, hypothecation deeds, and mortgage/collateral documents.

- Title Investigation &

- Due Diligence:

Conduct legal due diligence on borrower profiles, property title chains, and asset valuation records, particularly for secured loans and Micro-LAP (Loan Against Property).

- Regulatory Compliance &

- Advisory:

Monitor updates from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and other statutory bodies. Advise internal credit, sales, and collections teams on legal risk mitigation.





- Contract Management: Review and negotiate vendor contracts, service-level agreements (SLAs), and third-party outsourcing terms.

Required Qualifications &

- Experience

- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Master of Laws (LLM) from a recognized university. Enrollment with a State Bar Council is often required.

- Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years of experience as a Legal Officer or Legal Associate in an NBFC, bank, or financial institution (roles can scale up to 10+ years for Regional/Senior Legal Manager positions).

- Core Knowledge: Robust command over property laws, mortgage lending, company law, and consumer protection laws.

- Skills: Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical thinking, and courtroom/advocacy coordination skills.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
