Takachar

New Delhi

Location: Delhi NCR, India (on-site)

Reports to: CEO

We're looking for a Manufacturing Lead who will own how Takachar's products are built and delivered. In this role you will run our shop floor operations end-to-end, manage our contract manufacturers, and own the product's journey right up to the point it is loaded onto the transport vehicle for the customer. Our manufacturing is currently led by our product development engineers; your first mandate is to take that load off them entirely so they can get back to R&D; and product testing.

You will own the delivery timeline planning the build, holding vendors and contract manufacturers to committed dates, running procurement against our established vendor pool, and supervising our Logistics In-charge so that production and dispatch move as one plan.

This is a high-ownership, high-impact role suited to someone who is at home on the factory floor, fluent in engineering drawings, and relentless about delivering on time. This is an on-site role, not a remote one. Since we manufacture out of India, you will be working from the shop floor on most days alongside our production team, product development engineers, vendors and contract manufacturers so regular physical presence at our facility and periodic travel to vendor and customer sites are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Shop Floor & Production Operations:

- Own day-to-day shop floor operations end-to-end production planning, work allocation, station layout, tooling and fixtures, housekeeping, and safety
- Build and maintain the production system: assembly sequences, work instructions, checklists, and job cards, so that every unit is built the same way regardless of who is on the floor
- Drive throughput, first-pass yield, and rework reduction; identify and remove bottlenecks in the build process
- Own in-process and final quality inspection protocols, functional testing and commissioning checks before dispatch, and resolution of non-conformances
- Manage shop floor manpower including technicians and contract labor: rostering, skilling, productivity, and discipline
- Ensure compliance with factory, safety, and environmental requirements at the manufacturing site

Contract Manufacturing:
- Own relationships with contract manufacturers and fabrication partners across sheet metal, machining, welding, and sub-assembly
- Qualify new contract manufacturers audit capability, run first-article inspection, and approve them for production
- Transfer builds to contract manufacturers with complete drawing packs, specifications, and acceptance criteria; supervise progress on site where required

- Hold contract manufacturers to their quality, cost, and delivery commitments through regular reviews; resolve deviations quickly
- Maintain a qualified second source for critical parts and processes to protect against singlevendor risk

Engineering Drawings & Product Interface:
- Read, interpret, and cross-check engineering, fabrication, and assembly drawings, including GD&T;, weldments, and Bills of Materials catching errors and inconsistencies before they reach the floor or the vendor
- Maintain drawing and revision control so that the floor and our vendors are always building to the current version
- Provide structured DFM/DFA feedback to the Product Development team and take new designs from prototype to a repeatable production build
- Free up the PD team's bandwidth for R&D; and product testing by taking complete ownership of the build

Procurement:
- Run procurement against Takachar's established vendor pool purchase orders, delivery schedules, incoming quality, and coordination of vendor payments with the finance team
- Translate BOMs into material plans tied to the production schedule; flag long-lead items and supply risks early
- Develop vendors over time and pursue cost reduction through alternate sourcing, volume consolidation, and longer-term agreements as volumes grow

Delivery & Dispatch:
- Own delivery of the product to the customer up to the point the unit is loaded onto the transport vehicle pre-dispatch inspection, packing and crating, dispatch documentation, and loading
- Supervise the Logistics In-charge: set dispatch priorities, review delivery performance, and keep the production and dispatch plans aligned
- Coordinate with the Business Development team to confirm customer-committed dates and flag any risk to those dates early, with a recovery plan

Project Management & Reporting:
- Own the end-to-end delivery timeline: build a master production and dispatch schedule and hold every step in the process against it
- Run the plan actively track milestones, dependencies, and the critical path across PD, vendors, contract manufacturers, and dispatch; escalate and resolve slippage before it reaches the customer
- Define and report the core metrics on-time delivery,

production cost per unit, yield, rework, and vendor performance to leadership on a regular cadence
- Document processes and build playbooks so that the manufacturing function can scale and be replicated at recent sites

Desirable skills and experience
- 8-12+ years of experience in manufacturing, production, or plant operations, with hands-on ownership of a shop floor in a mechanical or fabrication-heavy environment
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering; an MBA in Operations is a plus.
- Proven ability to read, interpret, and cross-check engineering, fabrication, and assembly drawings, including GD&T;, weldments, and Bills of Materials
- Direct experience managing contract manufacturers and fabrication vendors capability assessment, qualification, quality audits, and on-site supervision
- Strong project management skills – able to build a realistic schedule, work to a critical path, and hold multiple internal and external parties to committed dates
- Experience owning quality: inspection protocols, first-article inspection, functional testing, and rootcause resolution of non-conformances
- Experience managing shop floor teams, technicians, and contract labour, including productivity and safety
- Working knowledge of procurement against an established vendor base and of BOM-driven material planning
- Working knowledge of IEC protocols, particularly for manufacturing
- Exposure to capital equipment, industrial machinery, agri-equipment, or clean energy hardware sectors is a plus
- Prior experience working in a startup or high-growth environment where processes are built from scratch
- Comfortable working with data: confident building production trackers, cost-per-unit models, and operational dashboards in Excel/Google Sheets
- Clear communicator – able to translate shop floor reality into crisp updates for leadership and crossfunctional stakeholders
- Resourceful and solutions-oriented; doesn't wait for perfect information before acting
- High ownership mentality – treats the customer delivery date as personally owned

What’s in it for you?
- Salary and benefits commensurate to market rate and as per experience level
- Strong ownership and process building experience
- An opportunity to work with the world’s most awarded biomass technology company
- Opportunity to be at the forefront of climate action and pollution mitigation
- A work environment that invests in your personal and professional growth
- A culture that values empathy, curiosity & exploration
