Job DescriptionTrumarx is looking for a Junior IP Associate with 2–3 years of relevant experience to join our Intellectual Property team.
The role will involve hands-on work across Trademark prosecution, Copyright, IP enforcement, Registry proceedings and related commercial IP matters. The candidate will work closely with senior associates, advocates, clients and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle and assist with Trademark prosecution matters, including TM-A, TM-M and other relevant filings.
- Draft Examination Report responses, hearing submissions, oppositions, counter-statements, rectifications and evidence under the Trade Marks Rules.
- Assist with Trademark Registry hearings, follow-ups and procedural matters.
- Conduct trademark availability searches and prepare search reports and preliminary legal opinions.
- Assist with trademark classification and preparation of goods/services descriptions under the Nice Classification.
- Draft and assist with legal notices, cease-and-desist notices and infringement-related correspondence.
- Assist with Copyright registration and prosecution matters.
- Assist with IP litigation and dispute-resolution matters, including legal research, drafting, case preparation and coordination with counsel.
- Assist with NDAs, IP-related agreements and other commercial IP documents.
- Conduct legal research on Trademark, Copyright and other applicable IP laws and procedures.
- Monitor deadlines, application status and procedural developments before the Trade Marks Registry, Copyright Office and Courts.
- Coordinate with clients, senior associates, advocates and other stakeholders for documentation, filings and matter updates.
- Maintain accurate matter records and update case-management and status-tracking systems.
- Assist senior associates and partners with IP prosecution, enforcement and litigation matters.
Eligibility & Skills
- LL.B. from a recognised university.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council is mandatory.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Intellectual Property Law, particularly Trademark practice.
- Good understanding of Indian Trademark and Copyright Law.
- Basic knowledge of IP litigation and commercial agreements/NDAs.
- Strong legal drafting, research and analytical skills.
- Valuable written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office and legal research databases.
- Candidates should demonstrate a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in Intellectual Property Law.
Preferred ExperienceExperience in Trademark prosecution, Trademark Registry proceedings, Examination Reports, hearings, oppositions, rectifications and Copyright matters will be preferred.
