Role Description This internship Journalist role at AGUN is a hybrid position based in North Dum Dum, with a combination of on-site reporting and some work-from-home flexibility. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching stories, conducting interviews, and producing clear, accurate, and engaging news articles and features focused on Bengali and regional issues.

The Journalist intern will assist with drafting press releases, preparing scripts or notes for broadcast segments, and collaborating with editors and the digital team to adapt content for online and social media platforms. The role also involves monitoring current events, verifying facts and sources,



and contributing ideas for stories that align with AGUN’s mission of amplifying underrepresented voices.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess robust Writing and News Writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling stories.
- Candidates should possess solid Research skills, including source verification, data gathering, and contextual analysis.
- Candidates should possess the ability to draft Press Releases that accurately represent organizational updates and initiatives.
- Candidates should possess interest or foundational skills in Broadcasting, such as preparing scripts, voiceovers, or on-camera segments.
- Strong command of Bengali and and English; proficiency in Bengali is highly beneficial for regional reporting.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for conducting interviews and collaborating with team members.
- Basic familiarity with digital media platforms, social media, and online publishing tools.
- Current student or recent graduate in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical journalism, accuracy, and fair representation of diverse communities.
