HR Consultant (Part-time / Freelance) – Rancho Labs

About the role

Rancho Labs is looking for an HR Consultant to work closely with our founders on day-to-day people matters. This is a adaptable, part-time consulting engagement for someone who enjoys being the trusted person employees can talk to and who can turn concerns into practical solutions.

What you'll do

- Work directly with the founders as their go-to HR advisor, guiding employee-related decisions and challenges as they come up.
- Handle employee escalations and grievances fairly and confidentially, investigating issues and recommending resolutions.
- Conduct regular one-on-one conversations with employees to understand their concerns, motivation, and feedback.
- Track recurring issues and follow through until they're resolved, keeping founders informed on team sentiment.
- Mediate conflicts between team members or between employees and managers.
- Suggest improvements to HR policies, communication, and team culture based on what you hear from employees.
- Support with sensitive conversations such as performance concerns, exits,



and difficult feedback when needed.

What we're looking for

- 3+ years of HR experience, ideally in HR generalist or employee relations roles, preferably with startups or fast-growing teams.
- Strong listening skills and the ability to build trust quickly with employees at all levels.
- Sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive situations.
- Working knowledge of Indian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Comfortable working independently and communicating directly with founders.
- Open to in-office meetups twice a month, or as required.
- Experience in edtech or small, founder-led organisations is a plus.

Engagement details

- Type: Part-time / Freelance / Consultant
- Time commitment: 8–10 hours per week
- Work mode: Hybrid. Most work can be done remotely, with in-person meetings at our Saket office twice a month or as per requirement (for example, for one-on-ones or sensitive escalations).
- Compensation: ₹15,000–20,000 per month (fixed retainer)
