About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Wire & Cable Technology professional to lead the Technical and New Product Development (NPD) function for our Wire & Cable business.

The role will have end-to-end technical ownership covering cable design, materials, process development, qualification, certification and commercialisation—from concept through successful product launch.

The position will work closely with R&D;, Manufacturing, Quality, Compounding, Testing, Procurement, Marketing and Sales teams to convert customer and market requirements into qualified, cost-competitive and standard-compliant cable solutions.

Key Responsibilities? Cable Design & Engineering

- Lead electrical, thermal and mechanical design of LV, MV and HV cables
- Drive conductor sizing, insulation design, screening, armouring, current rating, short-circuit rating, voltage drop and derating calculations
- Establish design rules, standard drawings and calculation methodologies
- Review customer specifications, tender requirements and technical deviations
- Drive value engineering and design-to-cost initiatives

? New Product Development

- Own the complete NPD cycle: Concept → Feasibility → Design → Trial → Type Testing → Qualification → Commercialisation
- Establish stage gates, milestones and technical deliverables
- Lead first-article qualification and internal/external type testing
- Close test observations and ensure successful product qualification
- Maintain the NPD dashboard covering milestones, risks and escalations





? Materials & Technology

- Provide technical direction on XLPE, PVC, HFFR/LSZH, HR FRLS-H, EPR, silicone, semiconductive compounds, mica tapes, water-blocking materials and metallic screens
- Work closely with the Compounding and Materials teams on formulation, material availability and product performance

? Manufacturing & Process

- Provide technical direction across wire drawing, stranding, compacting, extrusion, CV/VCV/CCV curing, silane and peroxide curing, mica taping, armouring and laying-up
- Support plant trials and establish appropriate process windows for new products

? Certification & Approvals

- Manage technical relationships with certification and testing organisations including UL, TÜV, BASEC, LPCB, VDE, KEMA/DEKRA, BIS, SAI Global and equivalent bodies
- Drive certification from application and sample submission through witness testing, factory audits, surveillance and renewals
- Maintain the technical certification register and ensure compliance with certification requirements

? Technical Data & ERP

- Govern product masters, BOMs, routings and design parameters in SAP/ERP
- Standardise technical data across plants and eliminate duplicate part numbers
- Ensure controlled issue, revision and archiving of technical documentation

? Leadership

- Lead, coach and develop the Technical, NPD, Design and Process Engineering teams




- Build technical capability and establish a strong product-development culture
- Work cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Procurement, Marketing, Sales and CRI Materials/Lab teams
- Represent the technical function in customer meetings, technical audits, plant visits and industry forums

What We’re Looking ForEducation

- B.E. / B.Tech / B.Sc. in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering

Experience

- 10+ years of experience in the power cable industry
- 3–5 years in a Technical / NPD leadership role

Technical Expertise

- Strong cable design and calculation capability for LV, MV and HV cables
- Good knowledge of IS, IEC, UL, AS/NZS, VDE and BS/BS EN standards
- Strong understanding of XLPE, PVC, HFFR/LSZH, HR FRLS-H, rubber and semicon systems
- Hands-on knowledge of extrusion, CV/VCV curing, stranding, armouring and cable manufacturing processes
- Proven experience with UL, TÜV, BASEC, LPCB, VDE or equivalent certifications
- Working knowledge of SAP/ERP, BOM and technical data management

Desirable ExperienceExperience in:
- International/export markets and customer specifications
- Fire-survival and low-smoke cable systems
- Sustainability initiatives including EPD and PCF
- FMEA, 8D, DOE and Six Sigma
- Customer-specific and customised cable development
