General Manager — Hostels
Location: Chandigarh University, Punjab, India
Key Responsibilities
1. Residential Administration & Occupancy Management: Oversee room allotment and occupancy across all Boys' and Girls' hostel blocks; ensure occupancy targets are met and that current or renovated blocks are smoothly commissioned and onboarded each session.
Security, Surveillance & Discipline Enforcement: Lead night-round protocols and surprise room checks in coordination with Campus Security; ensure security incidents are logged within 12 hours and escalated per the disciplinary matrix to the Dean of Discipline/Executive Director, DSA&A; maintain digital violation records.
1. Student Wellbeing & Grievance Redressal: Ensure hostel grievances (SRMS) are acknowledged and resolved within prescribed SLA; conduct weekly floor meetings, ensure wellbeing concerns are referred to the Centre of Student Wellbeing within 24 hours, and drive monthly wellness and engagement activities.
2. Warden & Hostel Staff Management: Supervise Senior Wardens, Wardens and Block Managers across all hostel blocks; manage duty rosters including night-duty wardens, training, performance and disciplinary matters in coordination with HR.
3. Fire & Life Safety Compliance: Maintain fire-safety readiness across all blocks, conduct scheduled evacuation drills,
coordinate installation of evacuation signage and safety equipment with the Fire Department, and ensure statutory safety compliance.
4. Hostel Infrastructure, Inspections & Facilities: Conduct scheduled hostel visits and inspections (inside and outside blocks); track infrastructure issues — CCTV coverage, water/seepage concerns, washroom and room renovations — to closure with Estate/Project and Housekeeping teams.
5. Digital Attendance, Technology & MIS: Drive adoption of facial-biometric attendance and other hostel digital systems; ensure accurate attendance reconciliation, resolve ERP-related gaps, and maintain monthly dashboards and periodic KRA reporting.
Educational Qualification Bachelor's/Master's degree in Hospitality or Facilities Management, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related discipline.
A background in Defence/Para-military services with campus or institutional administration experience is also considered valuable, given the safety- and discipline-intensive nature of the role.
Experience
Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in large-scale hostel/residential administration, campus operations, or facilities management, with demonstrated experience managing multi-block housing, security/discipline systems, and large teams.
Pay: ₹50,958.96 - ₹100,000.00 per month
