CredX is a verification-first hiring platform for India. Every candidate's identity, education, and employment are independently verified before an employer sees them. The badge they carry is only worth something if the system behind it is airtight, which is why this role exists.

Incorporated in the US, built in Hyderabad, launching this month.

The seat

- You are the backend. Not a backend engineer on a team. The backend.
- Every schema, every API contract, every transaction boundary, every architectural tradeoff is yours to make and yours to defend. There is nobody above you to escalate to and nobody below you to delegate to.
- You work directly with the founder. Full context, rapid decisions, no layer between a decision and production.

What you will own

- Architecture. The backend across billing, verification, hiring, users, roles, and admin. Schema design, indexing strategy, transaction boundaries, and audit trails. You set API contracts before the frontend starts building, not after.
- Billing. The full lifecycle: plans, credits, mid-cycle changes, proration, renewals, failed payments, and reconciliation. Signature-verified webhooks, idempotency that actually holds under retries, and a backend that is the single source of truth for what a customer is entitled to. Razorpay is primary; Stripe is possible later.




- This is the part of the system we care most about getting right. Billing errors do not surface as bugs. They surface as a customer conversation you cannot win.
- Core systems. RBAC across Super Admin, Admin, Hiring Manager, Recruiter, and Applicant. Verification and document processing workflows. Authentication and authorization with JWT and Spring Security. REST APIs with validation and error handling that survive contact with reality.
- Production. Delivery from design to release, incident response, and long-term reliability. When it breaks at 2AM, it is yours.

What we need

- 3 to 6 years of Java and Spring Boot, designing production systems from scratch rather than extending someone else's.
- Deep PostgreSQL: Schema design, query optimization, indexing, and transaction semantics you can reason about under concurrency.
- Production payment systems experience. Subscription or credit lifecycles, webhooks, proration, and entitlement enforcement. We mean systems that handled real money, not a side project integration.
- System design judgment. You find the bottleneck before it finds you, design for failure as the default case, and make tradeoffs deliberately rather than by accident.
- JWT,



Spring Security, and RBAC design that holds up when a new role is added in month eight.
- Fluency with AI tooling, Cursor, Copilot, Claude, or equivalent, used to ship more rather than as decoration.
- Comfort owning everything with nobody assigning you work.
- Nice to have: Razorpay Subscriptions or Stripe Billing specifically, AWS deployment and storage, KYC or document verification workflows, planning API contracts alongside an Angular team, and prior founding team experience.

Compensation

- ₹10L to ₹12L fixed depending on depth.
- 0.25-0.50% equity, four-year vest, one-year cliff. This is a founding seat, and the equity says so. We are not using the word to justify a smaller number.

Not a fit if

You want an existing architecture to extend, a tech lead to escalate to, or someone else on call. You want remote or hybrid. You are optimising for the highest cash offer, which will not be us.

How we hire A deep technical conversation with the founder, mostly system design. A walkthrough of something you built where the data model was hard. Then a paid take-home, roughly four hours, on a real billing or entitlement problem from our system. Three steps, inside two weeks.
