? About the Role

Alkemiz is looking for a Fabric Data Lead to serve as the technical authority for our Microsoft Fabric estate — ensuring it is well governed, fit for purpose, and aligned to business needs.

The Fabric Data Lead applies strong design and architecture principles with practical judgement, leading DataOps delivery to balance agility, scalability, quality, and performance. You'll work closely with the Power BI reporting team to understand retail reporting requirements, then design data engineering solutions and semantic models that follow sound architecture patterns within operational constraints.

?️ Key Responsibilities

Fabric Governance

? Ensure every Fabric asset has a clear purpose, defined lifecycle, named business owner, and demonstrable business value

? Actively monitor Fabric capacity usage and implement practical controls to stay within allocated capacity

? Ensure data pipelines are resilient, robust, and supported by effective alerting and monitoring

Solution Design & Delivery

? Translate analytics and business requirements into clear technical requirements and delivery plans

? Apply Fabric best practices and DataSecOps principles to design robust, scalable,



maintainable solutions

? Ensure relational data models, notebook code, SQL procedures, semantic models, and other artefacts are optimised and well designed

? Lead the team to deliver well-architected solutions, using AI responsibly under strong human judgement and accountability

Cross-Functional Collaboration

? Collaborate with business and domain owners, the reporting team, and other IT teams to align priorities and deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes

✅ Must-Have Requirements

- 8–12+ years in data engineering (or data engineering + software engineering) and BI, with demonstrated ownership of end-to-end solution design
- Minimum 2 years hands-on Microsoft Fabric delivery
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a data engineering team, including code/design review responsibility
- Track record operating within a fixed platform capacity budget (Fabric capacity SKUs, Databricks DBUs, Synapse pools, or equivalent), making trade-off decisions to stay within it
- Experience defining or operating within a data governance framework — approval gates, ownership models, lifecycle/retention policy
- Prior experience working in an offshore/onshore delivery team

⭐ Positive-to-Have

- Microsoft certifications relevant to Fabric/Power BI
- Prior experience in the Retail sector

- Fabric Lakehouse & Warehouse design (Medallion Architecture)
- Fabric pipelines & notebooks (SQL, Python, PySpark/Spark SQL)
- OneLake structure and Direct Lake mode into Power BI
- Power BI semantic model design and DAX
- Fabric capacity administration and workspace governance
- Git-based version control and CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub) for Fabric artefacts
- Security fundamentals: row-level security, column-level security, sensitivity labels, secrets management
