At Vistance
Networks, we believe in fostering a culture of creativity, inclusivity, and continuous learning, ensuring our employees are equipped to drive technological advancements and deliver exceptional value to our customers.
About The Role We are seeking a high-caliber Staff Engineer, Embedded to join our team based in Bangalore. This senior technical role is pivotal in designing and architecting firmware for next-generation Smart RF Amplifiers, Nodes, and Remote Telemetry Modules, including FDX/DOCSIS 4.0 cable access and IoT edge nodes.
As a key member of our engineering team, you will serve as a technical lead, taking ownership of ARM-based MCU/MPU firmware development at both bare-metal and RTOS levels. Your expertise will be instrumental in bridging software engineering with RF hardware design, implementing low-level drivers for components such as attenuators, equalizers, and Automatic Gain Control algorithms, and leading board bring-up activities. Collaboration with our US-based hardware, RF, and firmware teams will be essential in bringing complex hardware platforms to life, ensuring seamless integration and performance excellence.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in embedded systems engineering. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
Candidates should have at least 8+ years of embedded software engineering experience, with proven leadership as a technical lead or Staff Engineer. Deep expertise in ARM Cortex architecture, assembly language, linker scripts, and advanced C/C++ programming is essential. The candidate must also have comprehensive knowledge of RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or ThreadX, and experience with bare-metal firmware development.
Practical understanding of RF hardware concepts—including attenuators, equalizers, and power amplifiers—is necessary, along with hands-on experience implementing AGC algorithms. Familiarity with LoRaWAN protocols, sub-GHz wireless transceivers, and hardware debugging tools (Keil, GDB, JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers) is vital. Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills are also required to partner effectively with global teams for co-design, board bring-up, and system validation.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and optimize low-level firmware for ARM Cortex-M and Cortex-A microcontrollers and microprocessors operating on RTOS platforms or in bare-metal environments.
- Implement and fine-tune dynamic RF control algorithms, including AGC, ALC, tilt compensation, and digital equalizers, to enhance signal processing performance.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and RF design teams by interpreting schematics and block diagrams to guide pinouts, power domain management, and peripheral routing.
- Develop robust and efficient low-level peripheral drivers over I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO interfaces to control RF chips,
sensors, and power management components.
- Design, integrate, and maintain LoRaWAN stacks and application layers for remote telemetry and IoT applications, ensuring reliable wireless connectivity.
- Lead initial board bring-up activities on custom prototype PCBs, performing hardware/software co-debugging using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Architect system memory maps, write optimized code, and manage heap/stack usage to meet strict real-time performance requirements.
- Drive software development workflows, ensuring high-quality code through version control systems like Git and project management tools such as Jira.
