Key Responsibilities
1. Containerization
● Containerize existing .NET applications (currently Windows-hosted) using both Windows containers and Linux containers where feasible, evaluating migration paths from .NET Framework to modern .NET where applicable ● Build and maintain Dockerfiles, multi-stage builds, and image optimization for size and security
● Establish a private container registry (Quay, Harbor, or OpenShift's internal registry) with image scanning and vulnerability management
1. Local / Office Test Environment
● Set up an on-prem lab environment (Docker/Podman + a lightweight Kubernetes distro such as k3s/RKE2, or OpenShift Local/CRC) to validate containers before promotion ● Own the full inner-loop test cycle: build → scan → run → validate → push
1. Enterprise OpenShift Deployment
● Design and deploy Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) in the data center — cluster sizing, node roles (control plane / infra / worker), storage (ODF or Nutanix CSI), and networking (SDN/OVN-Kubernetes) ● Own OpenShift lifecycle management: upgrades, operators, RBAC, namespaces/projects, resource quotas
● Integrate the cluster with existing Nutanix HCI infrastructure
1. CI/CD & Environment Promotion
● Build CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Tekton, or Azure DevOps) to move images from build through Dev, UAT, and Production ● Define and enforce setting-specific configuration (ConfigMaps/Secrets, Vault/OpenBao integration)
● Set up UAT and Production namespaces/clusters with appropriate isolation, approval gates, and change control — important given the BFSI compliance context
1. Operations & Reliability
● Implement monitoring and logging (Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/Loki) and alerting for containerized workloads ● Own backup/DR strategy for stateful workloads running on OpenShift
● Perform capacity planning and cost/resource optimization across clusters
Required Skills
● 3+ years hands-on with Docker/Podman and Kubernetes (OpenShift preferred, or GKE/AKS/EKS with willingness to specialize in OpenShift)
● Experience containerizing .NET applications, including Windows container nuances
● Strong Linux fundamentals (RHEL preferred, given the OpenShift/Red Hat ecosystem)
● CI/CD pipeline design and scripting (Bash/PowerShell/Python)
● Networking fundamentals: ingress/routes, load balancing, and basic service mesh concepts
● Familiarity with secrets management, RBAC, and image security scanning
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
● Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, EX280 – OpenShift Administration)
● Experience in BFSI/regulated environments (audit trails, change management, data residency)
● Experience with Nutanix HCI or other on-prem virtualization
● Exposure to service mesh (Istio/OpenShift Service Mesh) and GitOps (ArgoCD/OpenShift GitOps)
