Role Summary The DevOps Engineer owns build, deployment, infrastructure, and observability for Dockerized Flask services on EKS (uWSGI/nginx), a Spring Boot service on ECS, and multiple Vite/React frontends deployed to S3 + CloudFront via AWS CodeBuild.
Key Responsibilities
- Replace per-repo deploy scripts with standardized CI/CD pipelines (CodeBuild/CodePipeline or equivalent) one golden path each for Python services, the Java platform, and Vite frontends.
- Introduce Terraform for the currently unmanaged AWS estate (EKS, ECS, CloudFront distributions, S3, IAM, WAF, ECR).
- Bring Helm or Kustomize to the raw Kubernetes manifests; standardize health probes, resource limits, and autoscaling.
- Implement centralized secrets management and certificate rotation (replacing config files and env-folder conventions).
- Own observability: extend the OpenTelemetry log collector, Sentry, dashboards, alerting, and on-call runbooks.
- Own backup, restore, and disaster-recovery posture for MySQL and PostgreSQL; support Alembic migration rollout across environments.
- Drive AWS cost visibility and optimization; manage ECR image hygiene and base-image patching.
- Partner with the Architect on the EKS/ECS platform strategy and setting consolidation.
