Role Summary The Deputy IT Head supports the HOD in executing the IT strategy with a focus on operational discipline, project delivery, digital innovation, and cost optimization.

The role oversees daily IT operations across infrastructure, security, applications, and support, while also identifying and implementing practical AI, automation, and cloud-based solutions. Acts as the second line of command within the IT department, ensuring business continuity, technology alignment, and effective adoption of emerging technologies across Fernandez Foundation.

Key Skills & Competencies

- Strong operational IT management and leadership capability.
- Hands-on understanding of infrastructure, HIS/EMR, cybersecurity, and IT support.
- Working understanding of generative AI, large language models, AI agents, and agentic workflows.
- Familiarity with APIs, databases, cloud platforms, application integrations, and workflow automation tools.
- Working knowledge of Python and/or JavaScript would be advantageous.
- Robust project management, vendor management, and problem-solving capability.




- Ability to translate business problems into practical technology solutions.
- Exposure to healthcare IT standards, regulatory compliance, and medical-data management.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of technology experience with demonstrated team-management responsibility.
- Experience managing enterprise IT operations and multi-location technology environments.
- Healthcare/hospital IT experience preferred; strong candidates from digital health or other technology-intensive sectors may also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience implementing, building, or deploying applications, automation, or AI-enabled solutions.

Position Overview The Deputy HOD of IT & Digital Innovation acts as a bridge between strategy and execution, combining reliable IT operations with practical technology innovation. The role requires an individual capable of supporting and leading the IT function while also being sufficiently hands-on to prototype AI solutions, automate workflows, and deploy simple applications that improve operational efficiency and organizational effectiveness.
