About The Role We are seeking a highly skilled Founding Data Scientist / Quantitative Lead to spearhead the development of our analytical and statistical methodologies. This is a foundational, hands-on role with significant influence over model design, research methodology, data architecture, experimentation, validation, fairness, and product analytics.
The successful candidate will work directly with the founders, product teams, and behavioral science specialists to shape the scientific direction of Tessembl. This role offers a unique opportunity to build the core analytical framework of the company from the ground up, ensuring that our products are grounded in robust scientific principles and innovative analytical techniques. The ideal candidate will have a passion for building scalable, explainable, and fair models that can be applied to complex organizational data, ultimately helping organizations better understand and manage their workforce.
Qualifications The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in statistics, data science, econometrics,
quantitative psychology, applied mathematics, or a related discipline. Proficiency in Python and/or R is essential, along with a solid understanding of regression, classification, and predictive modeling techniques.
Experience with model validation, out-of-sample testing, and working with messy, real-world datasets is highly desirable. Candidates should have a strong grasp of correlation, causation, and confounding factors, as well as familiarity with longitudinal or panel data. Excellent communication skills are necessary to translate complex analytical insights into clear, actionable outputs for non-technical stakeholders.
An innate curiosity, willingness to challenge assumptions, and a collaborative mindset are critical for success in this pioneering role.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced statistical and machine learning models to support workforce decision-making processes.
- Analyze diverse employee, organizational, and operational datasets to extract meaningful insights.
- Create robust prediction, ranking, benchmarking, and longitudinal analysis frameworks.
- Design experiments and develop validation protocols to ensure model reliability and accuracy.
- Develop measures to quantify uncertainty and confidence in model outputs.
- Work with behavioral and psychometric data to inform model development.
- Identify and mitigate confounding factors within complex organizational datasets.
- Conduct calibration, fairness, and bias analyses to promote ethical and equitable models.
- Develop strategies for handling incomplete,
noisy, and heterogeneous enterprise data sources.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to productionize models, ensuring scalability and robustness.
- Translate complex analytical results into clear, explainable insights for product and business teams.
- Help establish and uphold scientific standards and research methodologies within the company.
- Support early customer pilots, analyzing real-world data to refine models and strategies.
