Role & Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for the company across products and markets.
- Independently research potential opportunities and convert promising ideas into actionable business proposals.
- Identify and approach distributors, wholesalers, retailers, institutional buyers, modern trade partners, HoReCa customers and other potential channel partners.
- Explore opportunities for new product categories, geographic expansion, contract manufacturing, private label, strategic partnerships and B2B sales.
- Conduct basic market and competitor research to understand pricing, margins, demand, market gaps and emerging trends.
- Develop leads through calls, meetings, field visits, industry contacts, trade fairs and online research.
- Meet prospective partners and customers, understand their requirements and evaluate commercial viability.
- Prepare simple business cases, opportunity notes, proposals and commercial comparisons for management.
- Coordinate internally and externally to take promising opportunities from initial discussion to execution.
- Maintain a pipeline of opportunities and provide regular updates on progress, next steps and commercial potential.
- Be comfortable working with broad direction rather than waiting for detailed instructions.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- 3- 10 years of experience in business development, sales, FMCG, food products, distribution, retail, consumer goods or related sectors.
- Strong preference for candidates who have worked with distributors, wholesalers, retailers or institutional customers.
- Entrepreneurial and resourceful mindset someone who can be given an objective such as “find new opportunities ” and independently figure out where to look, whom to contact and how to pursue them.
- Strong research, networking and communication skills.
- Comfortable making cold calls, visiting markets, meeting potential partners and developing relationships from scratch.
- Commercially aware and able to understand margins, pricing, volumes and basic business economics.
- Able to distinguish genuinely attractive opportunities from ideas that are unlikely to be commercially viable.
- Self-driven, organised and persistent, with strong follow-through.
- Comfortable working directly with senior management in a relatively entrepreneurial setting.
- Good written and spoken English and Hindi.
- Experience in the food/FMCG industry and North Indian markets would be an advantage.
