Baker

At Ole & Steen, every product leaving our stores carries our name — and we're looking for someone who understands exactly what that means.

We need a Baker who combines strong technical skill with attention to detail, producing our breads, viennoiserie, pastries and daily made-to-order items to a consistently high standard.

THE OPPORTUNITY

- £15.10 per hour
- 5 days out of 7, including 1 weekend day
- 45 hours per week
- Reporting to the Head Baker

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- 2+ years' professional bakery experience (bread and viennoiserie preferred)
- Knowledge of dough fermentation, lamination, scoring and baking science
- Ability to read and follow standardised recipes and scale formulas
- Good technical understanding of food manufacturing processes
- Food Handler's certificate, or willingness to obtain one — knowledge of HACCP or equivalent food-safety systems a plus
- Comfortable working early mornings and standing for long periods
- Good written,



numerical and verbal communication skills; a problem solver and team player

A DAY IN THE LIFE

- Preparing doughs, batters, fillings and mixes to recipe and production schedule
- Operating ovens, mixers, proofer cabinets, sheeters and other bakery equipment safely
- Shaping, proofing, scoring and baking breads, rolls, croissants, Danishes and tarts to a consistent standard
- Monitoring oven temperatures, baking times and product quality, adjusting as needed
- Decorating and finishing pastries to brand standard
- Keeping production logs, batch records and ingredient tracking up to date
- Following food safety, sanitation and allergen-control procedures, and keeping a clean, organised station
- Working closely with Pick & Pack, Stores and Technical, and collaborating with front-of-house on specials
