About The Role We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to take ownership of the core systems powering our perpetual derivatives platform. This critical role involves designing, building, and maintaining the backend services that facilitate order management, position tracking, margin calculations, real-time market data dissemination, and integrations with global liquidity venues.

As a hands-on individual contributor, you will be responsible for crafting robust, scalable, and highly reliable systems capable of operating in a high-frequency trading environment where every microsecond and every state transition must be precise. You will work closely with the CTO and product teams, making architectural decisions, reviewing code, and participating in on-call rotations to ensure system stability. The role offers an opportunity to influence the technical direction of our flagship product, solving complex problems related to concurrency, financial correctness, and real-time data streaming in a regulated environment.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have 4 to 8 years of skilled experience in backend engineering, with at least 2 years working on systems where correctness under concurrency is critical, such as payments, trading platforms, or financial ledgers.



You should possess expert-level proficiency in Node.js (version 20+), with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming, event loops, worker threads, clustering, and backpressure management.

Strong expertise in MySQL 8, including transaction management, isolation levels, row locking, deadlock resolution, and query optimization, is essential. Additionally, you should have extensive experience working with Redis 7, utilizing Lua scripting for atomic operations, Streams, Pub/Sub, and implementing order books with sorted sets. Familiarity with WebSocket scaling techniques, REST API integrations, and secure, signed requests with global exchanges like Binance, Bybit, and OKX is required.

Candidates should demonstrate a solid grasp of financial-grade correctness principles, including decimal arithmetic, double-entry accounting, idempotency, and exactly-once processing. Comfort with Linux environments, Docker, Nginx, PM2, and monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana is also necessary. A proactive communicator with clear documentation skills and the willingness to relocate or be based in Jaipur are important.

Responsibilities

- Design and implement the order lifecycle for perpetual contracts, including placement, matching, partial fills, cancellations, and amendments, ensuring strict sequencing and deterministic replay.
- Develop the position, margin, and profit & loss engine, incorporating mark price calculations, funding rate applications, margin checks, liquidation triggers, and insurance fund logic.
- Model order books and system state using Redis (sorted sets, Streams, Lua scripts) and persist authoritative data in MySQL with appropriate isolation and locking mechanisms.
- Implement a double-entry ledger with precise decimal arithmetic, ensuring financial correctness, idempotency, and exactly-once semantics across all transactional events.




- Create reconciliation processes to verify that internal books match external venues, wallets, and accounts continuously.
- Scale and optimize real-time market data streaming via WebSockets, managing tens of thousands of concurrent connections with sharding, heartbeats, and backpressure handling.
- Integrate with global exchange APIs such as Binance, Bybit, and OKX, managing signed requests, rate limits, failover strategies, and staleness detection.
- Operate and maintain backend systems using Docker, Nginx, and PM2, establishing monitoring dashboards, alerting, and structured logs for incident response and debugging.
- Conduct load testing, define SLAs for latency and availability, and implement chaos engineering practices to ensure system resilience.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and mentoring sessions to elevate engineering standards and share best practices.
