Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced AWS API Gateway Engineer / API Management Architect with a strong background in API Management platform migrations, particularly from 3scale to AWS API Gateway. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience designing, implementing, securing, and migrating enterprise API ecosystems on AWS.

This is a critical project requiring immediate engagement to lead and support the migration of APIs, policies, security configurations, developer portals, and integrations from 3scale to AWS API Gateway while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead migration activities from 3scale API Management to AWS API Gateway.
- Assess existing API landscape, policies, security controls, and integrations.
- Design and implement scalable API solutions using AWS API Gateway.
- Configure AWS API Gateway features including REST APIs, HTTP APIs, Usage Plans, API Keys, Custom Domains, Stage Variables, Throttling and Rate Limiting, and Caching.
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms using OAuth 2.0, JWT, AWS Cognito, IAM Authentication, IAM Identity Center (AWS SSO), and Lambda Authorizers.
- Integrate APIs with AWS services such as AWS Lambda, ECS/EKS, ALB/NLB, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, and AWS Step Functions.
- Design and support enterprise-level AWS architecture, cloud-native solutions, and microservices-based integrations.
- Work with containerized platforms including Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes, Docker, and AWS EKS.
- Implement CI/CD and GitOps practices using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS DevOps Services, Bitbucket, Ansible, ArgoCD, and Databricks integrations.




- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Configure monitoring, logging, and observability using Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, and New Relic.
- Create migration strategies, technical documentation, deployment runbooks, and operational procedures.
- Troubleshoot production issues and optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, security teams, and business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3+ years of overall experience in API Integration, Middleware Technologies, and AWS Cloud Engineering.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS API Gateway.
- Proven experience in API Management platform migration projects.
- Direct experience migrating from 3scale to AWS API Gateway (highly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API design principles, microservices architecture, and API management best practices.
- Strong expertise in AWS services, cloud-native architectures, and AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
- Experience implementing API security standards, IAM policies, IAM Identity Center (AWS SSO), authentication, authorization, and governance frameworks.
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, Docker, and containerized application deployments.
- Robust knowledge of GitOps, and DevOps practices using GitHub Actions, AWS DevOps Services, Bitbucket, Ansible, ArgoCD, Databricks, and Terraform.
- Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
