The Group would like to expand its Retail Footprint and leverage the trust and synergy built over the years in luxury retail by launching a Jewellery Business in India. India's gems and jewellery market contributed around 7% to GDP and 14% to India’s total merchandize export in February’21 with a market size was at US$ 78.50 billion in FY21. The jewellery industry in India is largely driven by individual family owned small to medium size businesses.
Thus, the Group anticipates that there is scope of development of large retailers / brand in jewellery industry in near future. The venture will benefit from the retail experience, knowhow and trust build over the years with various ABG Luxury Retail Brands. It will also be able to harness the people, technical and operational capabilities from Group’s retail arms.
The range will be developed as a proof of concept for an integrated offering and may be diversified with multiple brands post establishment of a commercially viable business model.
The Group launched its Jewellery brand Indriya housed in the company Novel Jewels, in June 2024. Indriya had a very good start and all the stores launched by November have been doing exceedingly well in terms of customer response and sales
Position Purpose and Summary
The Reverse Supply Chain role will a pivotal figure in managing the lifecycle of our precious assets as they move backward through our supply chain. This role is critical for ensuring the efficient, secure, and profitable processing of returned jewelry and precious metals. You will be responsible for managing the entire reverse logistics process, from initial receipt to final disposition, ensuring every step is meticulously executed. This position requires a hands-on leader who can manage intricate processes, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and maintain exacting records in a high-value workplace. Your success will be directly measured by the accuracy of inventory, the efficiency of the quality control and refining processes, and your ability to contribute to the company's sustainability and profitability goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reverse Logistics Operations:
- Manage the receipt and documentation of all reverse logistics parcels, including items from stores and photoshoots.
- Manage the inward processing of all returned products, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in a high-volume Distribution Center (DC) environment.
- Handle the specialized inward process for old gold items received from stores, preparing them for the crucial Quality Control (QC) purity check.
- Managing exceptions with requisite approvals from senior management.
- Quality Control and Refining Process Management:
- Coordinate the handover of old gold to the QC team for thorough purity and quality assessment.
- Manage the outward process of QC-verified gold to authorized refinery centers, ensuring strict adherence to background check (BG) limits and security protocols.
- Oversee the Goods Receipt Note (GRN) and purity verification of bullion received from refineries, and ensure a secure handover to the Bullion issue team.
- Vendor Coordination and Reporting:
- Act as the primary liaison with refinery vendors to establish and manage melting schedules and plans to adhere with defined TATs.
- Develop and distribute a daily Management Information System (MIS) report detailing GRN status, melting plans, and the status of items in the QC process.
- Maintain meticulous and organized records of all reverse supply chain activities for reconciliation, auditing and reporting purposes.
Critical Competencies for Success:
- Process Acumen: A deep understanding of reverse supply chain processes, particularly in a high-value goods environment. The ability to identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and security is crucial.
- Analytical Skills: Proficient in data analysis to track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as return rates, processing cycle times, and recovery rates. Must be able to translate data into actionable insights for process optimization.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail is required for managing inventory, ensuring accurate documentation, and overseeing quality control processes where precision is paramount.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively coordinate with internal teams (stores, QC, bullion team) and external vendors (refineries).
- Security Mindset: A heightened sense of security and risk awareness when dealing with high-value precious metals and jewelry.
Person Profile
- Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a reverse logistics or supply chain role, preferably within the jewelry, precious metals, or luxury goods industry.
- Proven experience in inventory management and process documentation.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and inventory management software.
- Knowledge of quality control processes and standards in the jewelry industry.
- Familiarity with the processes of precious metal refining and bullion handling.
