The role sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), public policy, digital transformation, and development. The successful candidate will work on questions such as how governments can enable responsible AI adoption, how AI can improve public service delivery and development outcomes, what policy and governance frameworks are needed for emerging technologies, and how a DPI approach can support AI development.
Roles and responsibilities
AI policy, governance, and adoption
- Research developments in AI, policy and governance, and responsible AI across different countries, particularly LMICs and various sectors
- Examine how AI can be applied to improve public services and development outcomes and assess opportunities and barriers to AI adoption
- Support the development of national or sector AI strategies, policy frameworks, roadmaps, and implementation approaches
- Analyses issues related to AI safety, accountability, privacy, inclusion, data governance, and responsible deployment
- Conduct rigorous primary and secondary research, including literature reviews, policy analysis, stakeholder interviews, and comparative country studies.
- Conduct research and help in the design of an AI sandbox for innovation
Client, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership
- Contribute to MSC's thought leadership on AI, DPI, and digital transformation
- Engage with government agencies, regulators, technology providers, development organizations, researchers, and other ecosystem stakeholders
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior internal and external stakeholders.
Project delivery and business development
- Take ownership of defined workstreams and smaller assignments under the guidance of senior team members
- Support proposal development, concept notes, expressions of interest, and other business-development activities
Requirements
Master’s degree in public policy, economics, law, international development, business, engineering, computer science, data science, or related disciplines. Prior experience working on AI is desired, but we are also interested in solid technology-policy candidates who can demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and engage meaningfully with emerging issues
