About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical Assistant Manager Accounts to manage the financial and accounting operations of our rapidly growing FMCG business. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in FMCG accounting, distributor finance, inventory accounting, statutory compliance, taxation, financial reporting, and business finance. This role will be instrumental in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, efficient working capital management, and supporting strategic business growth through financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Operations

- Manage end-to-end accounting functions including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), and Fixed Assets.
- Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, operational expenses, and payments accurately within defined timelines.
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and annual accounting activities including month-end and year-end closing.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare periodic financial statements, schedules, and supporting reconciliations.
- Perform bank reconciliations, cash reconciliations, and inter-company reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Monitor outstanding expenses, provisions, accruals, and prepaid expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure timely accounting of revenue, expenses, and provisions.

Distributor & Trade Accounting
- Manage accounting and reconciliation of General Trade (GT), Modern Trade (MT), Institutional Sales, and Quick Commerce partners.
- Process and settle distributor claims, promotional schemes, trade discounts, rebates, incentives, sales returns, shortages, and damage claims.
- Monitor distributor receivables and ensure timely collections to minimize overdue balances.
- Manage distributor outstanding balances, ageing reports, and credit control.
- Monitor distributor credit limits and recommend appropriate actions for risk mitigation.
- Coordinate with sales, commercial, and distributor teams for account reconciliation and dispute resolution.




- Ensure timely settlement of distributor accounts and channel partner payments.

Inventory & Cost Management
- Oversee inventory accounting across manufacturing units, warehouses, depots, and distribution centers.
- Ensure accurate stock valuation and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculations.
- Monitor inventory movement, slow-moving inventory, damaged stock, and write-offs.
- Coordinate periodic stock audits and physical verification of inventory.
- Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor logistics, warehousing, transportation, freight, and distribution costs.
- Support cost optimization initiatives across the supply chain.

Working Capital & Financial Control
- Monitor and optimize working capital including receivables, payables, inventory, and cash flow.
- Track debtor ageing, creditor ageing, and inventory holding periods.
- Ensure efficient utilization of funds and improve cash conversion cycle.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and liquidity reports.
- Monitor return on investment (ROI) for business initiatives, promotional schemes, trade spends, and capital investments.
- Analyze operating expenses and identify opportunities for cost control and process improvement.
- Review outstanding liabilities, advances, and recoverable balances periodically.

Statutory Compliance & Taxation
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, TCS, Skilled Tax, Income Tax, and other applicable statutory regulations.
- Prepare and review GST returns, TDS returns, tax reconciliations, and statutory filings.
- Coordinate with auditors, consultants, and government authorities.
- Support statutory audits, internal audits, tax audits, and compliance reviews.
- Ensure timely completion of statutory payments and filings.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for financial transactions.




- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, Companies Act provisions, and regulatory requirements.

MIS Reporting & Financial Analysis
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly MIS reports covering sales, profitability, expenses, inventory, receivables, payables, and working capital.
- Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Analyze gross margins, contribution margins, ROI, operating costs, and profitability by product, customer, and channel.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for informed decision-making.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, annual operating plans, and financial planning activities.
- Develop dashboards and financial reports for senior management.

Banking & Treasury
- Manage bank reconciliations and monitor daily banking transactions.
- Coordinate with banks regarding payments, collections, banking facilities, and documentation.
- Monitor cash balances and optimize fund utilization.
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments, statutory payments, salaries, and distributor settlements.
- Support treasury operations and banking compliance.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthen internal financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure timely documentation, approvals, and adherence to financial controls.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, and Commercial teams.

Qualifications
- B.Com / M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter / MBA (Finance).
- Additional certifications in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or ERP systems will be an added advantage.

Experience
- 5 to 8 years of accounting and finance experience.
- Minimum 3 years to 4years of latest relevant experience in FMCG, Food & Beverage, Consumer Goods, Retail Distribution, Manufacturing, or similar industries.
- Strong experience in distributor accounting, trade promotions, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
- Experience handling working capital management and business finance is preferred.
