Compensation
₹50–60 LPA , depending on experience, technical expertise, and overall fit.
About the Role
DD-AIM is hiring an Applied Mathematics Engineer with a strong mathematical foundation and hands-on experience in image processing, numerical methods, and C development.
The role will focus on developing and optimizing advanced mathematical image-processing algorithms based on Zernike Polynomials, Zernike Moments, and more modern extensions, particularly Polar Harmonic Transforms such as PCT .
Python and existing scientific libraries may be used for prototyping, testing, and validation; however, the final production implementation will be an optimised C library . The candidate should also be flexible in working across different technical areas and collaborating across time zones when required , as the role involves close interaction with our U.S.-based team.
Responsibilities
- Develop mathematical algorithms for image processing and computational imaging.
- Implement and optimize Zernike Polynomial-based algorithms and modern extensions such as Polar Harmonic Transforms (PCT) in C.
- Translate mathematical formulations and research publications into reliable production implementations.
- Use Python and scientific libraries for prototyping, numerical validation, and testing.
- Ensure numerical accuracy, stability, and reproducibility.
- Optimize algorithms for CPU performance, memory utilization, latency, and throughput.
- Develop correctness tests, validation frameworks, and performance benchmarks.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and research teams across different time zones.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Signal Processing, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging, Physics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Strong understanding of Zernike Polynomials, Zernike Moments, and contemporary extensions such as Polar Harmonic Transforms/PCT .
- Strong foundation in applied mathematics, linear algebra, numerical methods, and signal/image processing.
- Experience with image processing, computational imaging, or scientific imaging.
- Robust programming skills in C , particularly for numerical or performance-critical software.
- Working knowledge of Python for prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while remaining flexible and collaborative in a distributed team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medical or biomedical imaging.
- Experience developing or optimizing numerical/scientific libraries.
- Experience with SIMD, OpenMP, CUDA, parallel computing, or CPU performance optimization.
- Experience implementing mathematical algorithms from academic or technical publications.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and benchmarking tools.
Ideal Candidate You should be comfortable working across the complete algorithm-development lifecycle:
Mathematical Formulation → Prototype → Validation → Optimized C Implementation → Benchmarking → Production Integration
Please apply only if you meet the core qualifications for this position, particularly the Master’s degree requirement, advanced mathematical background, relevant image-processing experience, and strong C programming skills.
