Role Description The Academic Advisor role at SPM Study Abroad is a full-time, on-site position based in Coimbatore.

The Academic

Advisor will meet and counsel students and families, understand academic backgrounds and career ambitions, and recommend suitable courses, universities, and study destinations. Daily tasks include conducting one-on-one advising sessions, explaining admission and scholarship requirements, guiding students through application and documentation processes, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure smooth progress. The role also involves supporting students with standardized test requirements, timelines, and visa procedures, maintaining accurate advising records,



and participating in information sessions, seminars, and outreach activities.

The Academic

Advisor is expected to provide clear, unbiased guidance while maintaining a student-centered, professional, and ethical approach.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess solid Student Counseling and Academic Advising skills to guide learners through program and institution selection.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex processes clearly and build trust with students and families.
- Candidates should possess Career Counseling skills to help students align academic choices with long-term professional goals.
- Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Education systems and international higher education pathways.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Management, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
- Prior experience in academic advising, study abroad consulting, or student services is highly beneficial.
- Ability to work with diverse student backgrounds, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with basic office software and online communication tools.
