Roles and Responsibilities
Own the Shopify theme end to end including Liquid, JSON templates, sections, blocks and metaobjects
Optimize Core Web Vitals on mobile and ensure high conversion performance
Build and ship conversion-critical experiences including size-selector, expandable-sole explainer and size-chart
Build and instrument A/B tests on PDP, collection and cart pages
Implement analytics and event tracking including GA4, Meta CAPI, server-side tagging and consent handling
Evaluate, integrate and replace Shopify apps with native code where needed
Integrate with WMS/3PL, ERP, returns, reviews, WhatsApp/SMS and marketing automation via Shopify APIs and webhooks
Implement JSON-LD, clean heading structure, canonical and hreflang handling for SEO
Build collection and blog templates for content publishing
Own version control, staging themes, code review and peak-season readiness
Requirements
1Strong Shopify Developer Profile with hands-on theme development and D2C e-commerce background
2Mandatory (Experience 1): Must have 3+ years of hands-on Shopify development, including at least one Online Store 2.0 theme they built or substantially rebuilt end-to-end.
3Mandatory (Experience 2): Must have hands-on experience in PDP development and website design on Shopify
4Mandatory (Experience 3): Must have demonstrable performance-optimization experience on Shopify storefronts, including improving mobile Core Web Vitals (LCP / CLS).
5Mandatory (Experience 4): Must have experience building and instrumenting A/B tests on PDP / collection / cart, working with marketing on hypotheses rather than only implementation.
6Mandatory (Tech skill 1):



Must have robust hands-on Liquid / HTML / modern CSS / vanilla JavaScript, with the ability to read and debug a theme they didn't build.
7Mandatory (Tech skill 2): Must have hands-on experience with Shopify Admin API / Storefront API / webhooks, and at least one custom app or Shopify Function.
8Mandatory (Tech skill 3): Must have a Git-based workflow, Shopify CLI experience, and a track record of deploying without breaking a live store (staging themes / code review / rollback).
9Mandatory (Tech skill 4): Must have experience implementing analytics and event tracking correctly — GA4 / Meta CAPI / server-side tagging / consent handling.
10Mandatory (Skill): Must be comfortable working with analytics and making decisions based on data
11Mandatory (Company): Must come from a D2C e-commerce company running its website on Shopify.
12Mandatory (Working style): Must be comfortable working from an outcome and constraints instead of a fully specified ticket, and improving a live store already taking orders, not only greenfield builds.
13Mandatory (Exclusion): Not suitable for candidates who only configure apps and page builders. This role requires someone who writes code.
14Mandatory (Note): Will be responsible for building and owning both the current domestic storefront and the upcoming international storefront.
15Preferred (Domain): D2C fashion / footwear / apparel / kids' category experience.
16Preferred (Tech): Headless / Hydrogen experience; Shopify Plus / Shopify Markets / checkout extensibility; JSON-LD and technical SEO / AEO for e-commerce; and the ability to implement a Figma file faithfully while flagging what won't work on mobile.
