Position: Assistant Manager, Welfare

1. Job Purpose

To manage and strengthen employee welfare activities at the garment manufacturing facility, ensuring a safe, supportive, compliant, and employee-friendly workplace, with particular focus on the needs of women employees.

The role will be responsible for employee welfare facilities, grievance handling, statutory welfare requirements, employee engagement, counselling/support, and coordination with internal departments and external agencies.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Absenteeism, Attrition & Employee Retention Management

- Monitor and analyse daily, weekly, and monthly absenteeism and attrition trends.
- Identify root causes of absenteeism and employee turnover through employee interactions, feedback, stay interviews and exit interviews.
- Track department-wise, line-wise, shift-wise and tenure-wise absenteeism and attrition.
- Identify high-risk employees and groups and take proactive retention measures.
- Follow up with frequent/long-absent employees and understand their concerns to support their return to work.
- Conduct regular employee connect sessions to identify and resolve workplace and welfare-related concerns.
- Develop and implement employee engagement and retention initiatives, particularly for women employees.
- Coordinate with HR, Production, and supervisors to address issues related to work environment, supervisors, transport, canteen, accommodation, working hours, and other welfare concerns.
- Monitor early attrition, particularly employee exits within the first 30/60/90 days, and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare regular absenteeism, attrition, and retention MIS reports and present key findings and action plans to management.
- Measure the effectiveness of retention initiatives and continuously recommend improvements to reduce absenteeism and attrition.

B. Employee Welfare & Facilities

- Manage day-to-day employee welfare activities within the factory.
- Ensure availability and proper maintenance of welfare facilities such as:
- Canteen
- Drinking water
- Rest areas
- Washrooms
- Changing rooms
- First-aid facilities
- Transport facilities
- Childcare/crche facilities, where applicable

- Conduct regular welfare-facility inspections and coordinate corrective actions.
- Ensure welfare facilities are clean, hygienic, secure and accessible to employees.

C. Women Employee Welfare

- Act as a key point of contact for women employees regarding welfare-related concerns.
- Handle women employees' grievances with sensitivity and confidentiality.
- Support awareness initiatives related to workplace safety,



dignity and respectful behaviour.
- Coordinate with relevant committees and management on matters concerning women employees.
- Support implementation and awareness of the organisation's POSH policy and related processes.
- Monitor issues affecting women employees and escalate serious concerns to HR management.

D. Employee Grievance Handling

- Receive, understand, and document employee grievances.
- Conduct employee interaction sessions and floor-level feedback activities.
- Coordinate with HR, Production, Compliance, and other departments to resolve grievances.
- Maintain proper records of grievances and closure status.
- Identify recurring employee issues and recommend preventive actions.

E. Statutory & Social Compliance

- Support HR/Compliance teams in meeting applicable labour and welfare requirements.
- Maintain welfare-related records and documentation required for audits and inspections.
- Coordinate preparation for customer/social-compliance audits.
- Ensure welfare practices are implemented in line with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.
- Support inspections by government authorities and other external agencies when required.

F. Employee Engagement

- Plan and coordinate employee engagement and welfare activities.
- Organise events and programmes such as:

- Employee awareness programmes
- Health and wellness activities
- Women's Day programmes
- Sports and cultural activities
- Employee recognition programmes
- Festival celebrations
- Counselling / awareness sessions

- Promote positive employee relations and improve employee participation.

G. Communication & Awareness

- Conduct regular employee awareness sessions on welfare-related topics.
- Communicate HR and welfare initiatives effectively to employees.
- Coordinate toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and employee meetings.
- Ensure employees understand available welfare facilities and support systems.

H. Employee Support & Counselling

- Maintain regular interaction with employees at the shop-floor level.
- Identify employee concerns relating to work environment, accommodation, transport, canteen, health, safety or personal difficulties.
- Provide basic counselling/support within the scope of the role and escalate sensitive or serious matters appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information.





I. Reporting & Documentation

- Prepare periodic welfare reports for management.
- Track welfare complaints, actions and closure.
- Maintain records of welfare activities, inspections, meetings and employee engagement programmes.
- Analyse employee feedback and recommend improvements.
- Provide MIS reports to the HR Manager / Factory Head as required.

4. Qualification

Master's degree in HR, Social Work, Labour Welfare, MBA or related discipline.

5. Experience

- 6-10 years of relevant experience in employee welfare / HR/labour welfare, preferably in the garment, textile, manufacturing or factory environment.
- Experience handling a predominantly female workforce will be an advantage.
- Experience in social-compliance audits and employee grievance handling is preferred.
