- Operate lathe machines for turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving and other machining operations.
- Read and understand engineering drawings and machining dimensions.
- Perform job setting, tool selection and basic machine alignment.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds and depth of cut.
- Use measuring instruments such as Vernier calliper, micrometre, bore gauge and dial gauge.
- Check component dimensions during and after machining.
- Handle large/heavy components safely using crane/handling equipment where required.
- Maintain machine cleanliness and perform basic preventive checks.
- Achieve production targets while maintaining dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
- Follow safety procedures and quality standards.
Recommended Qualification
- ITI Fitter / Machinist / Turner preferred.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering can also be considered.
- Experience: 25 years for regularoperators; 5+ years for senior lathe operators.
- Must be able to read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of measuring instruments is essential.
