Qualification: B.E./B.Tech./Diploma – Mechanical Engineering
Industry Preference: Heavy Engineering / Process Equipment / Pressure Vessels / Heat Exchangers / Fabrication

Key Responsibilities

1. Fabrication & Stage Inspection

- Carry out stage-wise inspection of pressure vessels and heat exchangers during fabrication.
- Inspect fit-up, alignment, dimensions, weld preparation, welding and assembly.
- Verify fabrication activities against approved drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
- Perform dimensional inspection using appropriate measuring instruments.
- Ensure compliance with approved QAP/ITP and inspection checkpoints.

2. Welding Quality

- Monitor welding activities and verify compliance with approved WPS/PQR/WPQ.
- Check welding parameters, consumables, preheating/interpass temperature and welding sequence.
- Verify welder qualification and welding consumable traceability.
- Monitor weld visual inspection and identify welding defects/non-conformities.
- Coordinate with Welding Engineering and Production for resolution of welding-related issues.

3. Heat Exchanger Quality

- Inspect components such as shell, heads, tubesheets, tubes, nozzles and internals.
- Verify tube-to-tubesheet activities, tube expansion/welding and associated inspections, wherever applicable.




- Check dimensional requirements and alignment of shell/tubesheet assemblies.
- Verify pressure testing and leakage testing requirements.
- Familiarity with TEMA requirements will be preferred.

4. Quality Documentation

- Prepare/review QAP, ITP, inspection reports, check sheets and quality records.
- Maintain inspection and test documentation for customer and statutory requirements.
- Review NDT reports, welding records, material certificates, dimensional reports and test reports.
- Prepare NCRs and coordinate corrective/preventive actions.
- Support preparation of final manufacturing/quality dossiers.

5. Codes & Standards
Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, preferably:

- ASME Section VIII Div. 1
- ASME Section IX
- ASME Section V
- TEMA
- ASTM/ASME material specifications
- Applicable customer specifications
- ISO 9001 quality requirements

6. Customer / Third-Party Inspection

- Coordinate with customer inspectors and third-party inspection agencies.
- Attend inspection calls and support customer inspection activities.
- Resolve technical quality queries and inspection observations.
- Ensure timely closure of inspection points and NCRs

Preferred NDT Knowledge

NDT Level-II certification in UT/RT/MT/PT
