Systems Storage IT Engineer

Location: Bangalore (Hybrid - at least 1 or 2 days in a week)

Experience: 5+ Years

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Systems Storage IT Engineer to support, operate, and scale global enterprise storage platforms.

This contractor role focuses on the day-to-day operation, maintenance, performance, availability, and reliability of production storage environments. You will work closely with infrastructure, engineering, and application teams to deliver reliable and scalable storage services.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor, operate, administer, and maintain NAS, SAN, and Object Storage platforms, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve storage-related incidents and escalate complex issues to appropriate engineering or vendor teams.
- Support NetApp, Pure FlashBlade, DDN, Lustre, Ceph, and related enterprise storage technologies.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Perform storage capacity analysis, forecasting, and planning to support infrastructure and business growth.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams on storage deployments, configurations, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
- Support application onboarding, testing, validation, and production-readiness activities.
- Participate in incident response, operational support, and on-call/holiday rotations as required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, SOPs, and storage best practices.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, scalability, automation,



and operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- 5+ years of experience in Storage Administration, Infrastructure Operations, Systems Engineering, or Platform Support.
- Robust hands-on experience managing enterprise NAS, SAN, and/or Object Storage environments.
- Production experience with one or more of:
- NetApp
- Pure Storage FlashBlade
- DDN
- Lustre
- Ceph
- Experience supporting highly available and scalable infrastructure in 24x7 production environments.
- Strong knowledge of storage troubleshooting, performance monitoring, incident management, and capacity planning.
- Experience with automation and scripting relevant to infrastructure/storage operations.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, and version control tools, including Git and/or Perforce.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with global infrastructure and engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

Nice to Have

- Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, observability, and reliability engineering.
- Experience supporting large-scale distributed systems.
- Exposure to infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Experience working with geographically distributed/global infrastructure teams.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of operational issues, and deliver effectively in a contractor engagement.
