For a Production Manager – Indoor & Outdoor Play Area Manufacturing, the role should cover production planning, manpower, material control, quality, safety, installation coordination, and timely project delivery.
Production Manager – Qualification
- Bachelor’s/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in playground equipment, amusement equipment, fabrication, metal works, furniture, or similar industries.
- Experience in indoor soft play, outdoor playground equipment, FRP/HDPE/LLDPE products, MS fabrication, SS fabrication, welding, painting, and assembly is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of production planning and scheduling.
- Knowledge of BOM, drawings, material estimation, inventory control, and quality inspection.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and manufacturing standards.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and production specifications.
- Good leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team-management skills.
- Basic knowledge of ERP/MIS, MS Excel, and production reporting.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Production Planning
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production plans based on project requirements.
- Allocate production targets to different departments and teams.
- Ensure projects are completed within the planned timeline and required quality standards.
- Coordinate production schedules with the design, purchase, sales, project, and installation teams.
2. Manufacturing Operations
- Supervise the complete manufacturing process for indoor and outdoor playground equipment.
- Monitor fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly, painting, finishing, soft-play fabrication, and other production activities.
- Ensure production follows approved drawings, specifications, BOMs, and work instructions.
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
3. Manpower Management
- Plan manpower requirements according to production workload.
- Allocate workers and supervisors effectively.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, overtime, and work performance.
- Train employees on production procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices.
- Maintain discipline and proper workplace practices.
4. Material & Inventory Control
- Coordinate with the purchase/store department to ensure timely availability of raw materials.
- Monitor consumption of MS, SS, pipes, sheets, plywood, foam, PVC, fabric, HDPE, FRP, ropes, fasteners, paints, hardware, and other materials.
- Minimize material wastage and production losses.
- Ensure proper storage and identification of materials.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure all products meet the company's quality specifications before dispatch.
- Conduct or coordinate inspections at different stages of production.
- Check dimensions, welding quality, finishing, strength, assembly, stitching, padding, and other relevant parameters.
- Identify defective products and ensure rework or corrective action.
- Maintain production and quality inspection records.
6. Safety Management
- Ensure workers follow required PPE and workplace safety procedures.
- Maintain safe practices for welding, cutting, grinding, painting, machinery operation, and material handling.
- Conduct regular safety checks on machinery and production areas.
- Report and investigate production-related accidents or safety incidents.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the factory.
7. Project-Specific Production
- Study project drawings and specifications before starting production.
- Prepare production requirements for each project.
- Ensure customized playground structures are manufactured according to approved designs.
- Coordinate with the project/installation team regarding site-specific requirements.
- Ensure all components are properly labelled, packed, and dispatched according to the project.
8. Machine & Equipment Management
- Monitor the condition and performance of production machinery.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.
- Minimize machine downtime and production interruptions.
- Ensure machines are operated only by trained personnel.
9. Dispatch & Installation Coordination
- Coordinate with the logistics and project teams for timely dispatch.
- Verify that all required components are available before shipment.
- Prepare project-wise packing and dispatch checklists.
- Support installation teams by providing drawings, component identification, and technical information where required.
10. Cost & Productivity Control
- Monitor production costs and productivity.
- Reduce material wastage, rework, rejection, and unnecessary overtime.
- Improve production efficiency through better processes and resource utilization.
- Track production targets versus actual output.
11. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain and submit regular reports such as:
- Daily Production Report
- Production Target vs. Actual Report
- Manpower Report
- Material Consumption Report
- Wastage Report
- Rejection/Rework Report
- Machine Downtime Report
- Quality Inspection Report
- Project Production Status
- Dispatch Readiness Report
Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
