nAbout the Prospect

nMercor is seeking experienced Gujarati language professionals, transcription specialists, annotators, translators, proofreaders, and localization experts to support large-scale document transcription and document understanding projects.

nThis role focuses on accurately transcribing Gujarati-language documents, identifying document structures, annotating content components, and ensuring high-quality linguistic accuracy across a wide range of document formats.

nYou'll apply your expertise in Gujarati language, script accuracy, document analysis, and content annotation to help create high-quality datasets from real-world Gujarati documents.

nKey Responsibilities

- Source publicly available Gujarati PDF documents that contain diverse layouts, tables, images, diagrams, handwriting, or mixed content.
n
- Identify and annotate document components such as titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, forms, and other content regions.
n
- Assign component classifications and establish accurate reading order across document layouts.
n
- Transcribe Gujarati text exactly as it appears in the original document, including handwritten content where legible.
n
- Record document metadata, including document type, language, page characteristics, and content attributes.
n
- Link related components and maintain structural relationships within the document.
n
- Review and validate annotation and transcription work completed by other experts.
n
- Ensure high levels of linguistic accuracy, consistency, and quality across all tasks.

nRequired Qualifications

n

n
- Native fluency in Gujarati , including full command of Gujarati script, orthography, and written conventions.
n
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain character-level transcription accuracy.
n
- Experience working with Gujarati-language documents, transcription, annotation, translation, proofreading, localization, journalism, or related fields.
n
- Ability to accurately interpret and process complex document layouts, including multi-column pages, forms, tables, and handwritten materials.
n
- Strong written communication skills and ability to follow structured guidelines consistently.

nPreferred Qualifications

- Experience in language annotation, data labeling, content evaluation, or AI training data projects.
n
- Background in transcription, localization, subtitling, OCR correction, or post-editing.
n
- Experience with proofreading, document digitization, publishing, or editorial workflows.
n
- Familiarity with Unicode standards, Gujarati input methods, and script-level quality assurance.
n
- Prior experience reviewing or validating language datasets and transcription projects.
