Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Copyeditor to handle language editing and proofreading across Trade/Humanities and STEM content, with the ability to review legal manuscripts. The Copyeditor is also expected to demonstrate proven experience creating and updating back-of-book indexes. This role requires hands-on use of editing technology and AI tools to work efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Copyedit and proofread manuscripts at different levels (light, medium, heavy) per client specifications.
Apply and enforce various style guides (CMS, MLA, Bluebook, and others) accurately.
Review legal and STEM content in addition to Trade/Humanities subjects.
Create and update back-of-book indexes.
Handle ancillary editorial tasks such as changing British English to American English and vice versa, and endnote updates.




Use editing/QA technology and AI-assisted workflows to enhance efficiency.
Maintain quality and consistently meet deadlines across assigned projects

Essential Skills & Experience
Significant experience in copyediting, language editing, and proofreading
Robust and proactive communication skills, written and spoken
Robust hands-on experience using editing technology and AI tools
Proven experience implementing multiple style guides (CMS, MLA, Bluebook, etc.)
Experience reviewing legal and STEM content
Hands-on experience creating and updating back-of-book indexes
Masters degree in English, Journalism, or a related field
