Role Purpose

The Manager – Design & Standards will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing design standards for Ayurveda hospitals, day-care centres, and clinics .

The role will guide external architects, design consultants, and internal project teams to ensure that layouts, specifications, patient experience, functionality, and buildability remain consistent across locations while meeting applicable healthcare and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design Standards

- Develop, maintain, and implement design standards across different facility formats.
- Establish space-planning principles and brand requirements for hospitals, day-care centres, and clinics.
- Ensure consistency of design standards across applicable projects, including franchise locations within the assigned infrastructure scope.
- Periodically review and update standards based on project learnings and operational requirements.

2. Repeatable Layouts & Templates

- Develop standard clinic templates and modular layouts.
- Create adaptable layouts that can be applied to different property configurations.
- Minimize unnecessary redesign while ensuring functional suitability and patient experience.
- Ensure layouts support efficient construction, operations, and future scalability.

3. Technical Site Review

- Support the Real Estate and Projects teams in evaluating shortlisted properties from a design and technical perspective.
- Assess whether properties can accommodate:
- Required layouts
- Patient and staff circulation
- Access and entry/exit requirements
- Functional spaces
- Building services
- Healthcare-specific requirements
- Identify design constraints and provide practical recommendations.

4. Drawing Review & Control

- Review architectural, interior, and engineering drawings submitted by external consultants.
- Verify drawings before release for tender or construction.
- Identify and resolve design coordination issues.
- Maintain clear drawing status, revision history, and approval records.
- Ensure only approved and latest drawings are used for execution.

5. Specifications & Approved Makes

- Develop and maintain standard specifications for applicable projects.
- Maintain the approved-makes list in coordination with Procurement and Projects .
- Review proposed material/specification substitutions.




- Ensure all substitutions are properly evaluated, documented, and approved before implementation.

6. Consultant Coordination

- Manage coordination with external architects and design consultants.
- Define design deliverables, timelines, review requirements, and coordination processes.
- Monitor the quality and completeness of consultant submissions.
- Provide timely feedback and ensure closure of design-related queries.
- Coordinate between consultants and internal project teams to avoid delays

7. Healthcare Design Requirements

- Coordinate with Operations and relevant specialists to ensure designs address:
- Patient flow
- Infection control
- Accessibility
- Fire and life safety
- Functional requirements
- Applicable building requirements
- Incorporate NABH-related requirements wherever applicable to the facility's accreditation scope.
- Coordinate with Biomedical and other specialist teams where required for healthcare equipment and facility planning.

8. Design Improvement & Technology

- Research relevant developments in:
- Healthcare design
- Modular construction
- Sustainable design
- Building technologies
- Medical technology integration
- Evaluate their suitability for the organization's facilities.
- Coordinate implementation of approved improvements in new facilities and planned upgrades.

- Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Relevant Experience

- B. Arch with valid Council of Architecture registration.
- M. Arch or a healthcare-design qualification will be an advantage.
- 8–12 years of architectural design experience , with significant exposure to healthcare projects.
- Strong experience in healthcare architecture, space planning, and project design coordination.
- Experience developing or implementing design standards across a multi-unit organization/network.
- Experience coordinating external architects, consultants, and multidisciplinary design teams.

- Control of unauthorized specification or approved-make substitutions.
- Timely closure of consultant design issues.
- Accuracy and completeness of controlled drawings and design documentation.

Initial Priorities After Joining

- First 30 Days
- Review existing design templates and standards.
- Understand current hospital, clinic, and day-care formats.
- Review existing consultant deliverables.
- Review approved specifications and approved-makes lists.
- Identify gaps in the existing design-control process.

- By 60 Days
- Finalize priority clinic and day-care templates.
- Establish a structured drawing-review and approval process.
- Standardize key design documentation and revision controls.
- Establish transparent coordination requirements for external consultants.

- By 90 Days
- Implement the hospital design standards framework.
- Establish a controlled drawing repository for active projects.
- Ensure consistent application of approved standards across active projects.
- Strengthen consultant coordination and design-query closure mechanisms.

- Role Boundaries

This is an internal design-control and standards role .

External architects and specialist consultants remain responsible for their contracted design deliverables and specialist certifications.

All design releases, specifications, approved makes, and material substitutions will follow the company's authorized review and approval process.

- Compensation

Salary: To be determined by HR based on the candidate's relevant experience, expertise, market suitability, and overall fit, in line with company policy.
