Manager – Design & StandardsDepartment:Infrastructure & ExpansionPosition:Manager – Design & StandardsNo. of Positions:1Work Arrangement:Head Office / Hybrid, with travel for site assessments and design reviewsJob Type:Full-TimeRole PurposeThe Manager – Design & Standards will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing design standards forAyurveda hospitals, day-care centres, and clinics.The role will guide external architects, design consultants, and internal project teams to ensure that layouts, specifications, patient experience, functionality, and buildability remain consistent across locations while meeting applicable healthcare and regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities1. Design StandardsDevelop, maintain, and implement design standards across different facility formats.Establish space-planning principles and brand requirements for hospitals, day-care centres, and clinics.Ensure consistency of design standards across applicable projects, including franchise locations within the assigned infrastructure scope.Periodically review and update standards based on project learnings and operational requirements.2. Repeatable Layouts & TemplatesDevelop standard clinic templates and modular layouts.Create adaptable layouts that can be applied to different property configurations.Minimize unnecessary redesign while ensuring functional suitability and patient experience.Ensure layouts support productive construction, operations, and future scalability.3. Technical Site ReviewSupport the Real Estate and Projects teams in evaluating shortlisted properties from a design and technical perspective.Assess whether properties can accommodate:Required layoutsPatient and staff circulationAccess and entry/exit requirementsFunctional spacesBuilding servicesHealthcare-specific requirementsIdentify design constraints and provide practical recommendations.4. Drawing Review & ControlReview architectural, interior, and engineering drawings submitted by external consultants.Verify drawings before release for tender or construction.Identify and resolve design coordination issues.Maintain clear drawing status, revision history, and approval records.Ensure only approved and latest drawings are used for execution.5.



Specifications & Approved MakesDevelop and maintain standard specifications for applicable projects.Maintain the approved-makes list in coordination withProcurement and Projects.Review proposed material/specification substitutions.Ensure all substitutions are properly evaluated, documented, and approved before implementation.6. Consultant CoordinationManage coordination with external architects and design consultants.Define design deliverables, timelines, review requirements, and coordination processes.Monitor the quality and completeness of consultant submissions.Provide timely feedback and ensure closure of design-related queries.Coordinate between consultants and internal project teams to avoid delays7. Healthcare Design RequirementsCoordinate with Operations and relevant specialists to ensure designs address:Patient flowInfection controlAccessibilityFire and life safetyFunctional requirementsApplicable building requirementsIncorporateNABH-related requirementswherever applicable to the facility's accreditation scope.Coordinate with Biomedical and other specialist teams where required for healthcare equipment and facility planning.8. Design Improvement & TechnologyResearch relevant developments in:Healthcare designModular constructionSustainable designBuilding technologiesMedical technology integrationEvaluate their suitability for the organization's facilities.Coordinate implementation of approved improvements in new facilities and planned upgrades.Candidate ProfileQualifications & Relevant ExperienceB.Archwith valid Council of Architecture registration.M.Arch or a healthcare-design qualificationwill be an advantage.8–12 years of architectural design experience, with significant exposure to healthcare projects.Strong experience in healthcare architecture, space planning, and project design coordination.Experience developing or implementing design standards across a multi-unit organization/network.Experience coordinating external architects, consultants,
