Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and responsible ICU In-Charge to oversee the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the Intensive Care Unit. The role involves supervising ICU nursing staff, ensuring quality patient care, maintaining clinical standards, coordinating with doctors and other departments, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and infection-control protocols.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate the daily operations of the ICU.
- Ensure high-quality nursing care and continuous monitoring of critically ill patients.
- Allocate duties, prepare staff schedules, and ensure adequate manpower coverage in all shifts.
- Coordinate with consultants, intensivists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
- Monitor patients' condition and ensure timely escalation of changes in clinical status to the concerned doctor.
- Ensure proper implementation of doctors' orders, treatment plans, and nursing protocols.
- Supervise medication administration, IV therapy, monitoring, documentation, and other nursing procedures.
- Ensure proper functioning and availability of ICU equipment, monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, emergency equipment, and other essential items.
- Ensure emergency drugs, consumables, and critical-care supplies are adequately stocked.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention and control practices, including hand hygiene and use of PPE.
- Ensure proper documentation of patient assessment, nursing care, medication, procedures, and patient progress.
- Conduct regular rounds and monitor nursing practices and patient-care standards.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ICU SOPs, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Handle and coordinate emergency situations effectively with the medical team.




- Supervise and guide ICU nurses and support staff in their daily responsibilities.
- Conduct training, orientation, and performance monitoring of ICU nursing staff.
- Identify training needs and arrange necessary clinical skill development sessions.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, professional conduct, and teamwork among ICU staff.
- Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, discharges, and shifting of patients to other departments when required.
- Ensure proper handover and takeover between shifts.
- Monitor and address patient and attendant concerns related to ICU services.
- Coordinate with pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, housekeeping, biomedical, maintenance, and other departments as required.
- Report incidents, equipment breakdowns, shortages, and other critical issues to hospital management.
- Participate in quality improvement, clinical audits, infection-control activities, and hospital accreditation initiatives.
- Maintain required ICU registers, reports, checklists, and records.
- Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of patient information.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Nursing Superintendent, Medical Superintendent, or Hospital Management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- B.Sc Nursing / GNM or equivalent recognized nursing qualification.
- Valid nursing registration.
- Minimum 3–5 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably with ICU experience.
- Previous experience in an ICU supervisory/in-charge role will be an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of critical-care nursing procedures and patient monitoring.
- Good leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
- Ability to handle emergency and critical situations calmly and efficiently.
- Good documentation and organizational skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends

Pay: From ₹16,000.00 per hour
